Xbox Series X/S and PlayStation 5 Orders Are Seeing Last Minute Delays

This week is a big week in gaming, as the Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PlayStation 5 are finally hitting store shelves. However, gamers may have to wait a little longer to get their hands on their consoles as shipping delays are being reported for both systems.

Whether it's due to the overwhelming demand for the consoles, the continuing problems with COVID-19 ,or a combination of factors, customers who successfully managed to purchase the Xbox Series X/S or PlayStation 5 are running into last minute delays.

Some Canadians who have ordered an Xbox Series X or Series S directly from Microsoft have been running into an issue that was showing their console sitting at a FedEx facility in Memphis, Tennessee for days, while those who ordered via Amazon are being told that consoles could arrive as late as December due to high demand.

Many who pre-ordered the PlayStation 5 aren't faring much better, as Walmart Canada posted just hours before the system's release that orders could be delayed 2 to 3 days due to the demand.

      I’m at an eb games right now. There’s 4 people here, but apparently (according to a guy in line), this location is only getting 3 Series X and 1 Series S. So we’re all gonna try and get online as well depending on how many this location actually has.

      I'm going X, personally, just for the extra space and disc drive. Even though I'm doing fine with a 512gb external drive on my One X and *rarely* watch physical media (and am entirely digital in my games library), I can afford the Series X and I like the flexibility it offers.

      If you spent a good amount on your TV to get HDR and maybe HDMI 2.1 it means your all in go with X for sure. If your TV just do basic 4K I would go for the series S it upscale to 4k like the ps4 pro did anyway. I know it's not really the way you should decide but maybe it's the thing that will help you decide. :)

      I think the whole Bethesda purchase solidified the Series S for me. The fact you're getting all these games day 1 on Game Pass is very tempting. I'm also hoping I can sell my One S for a quick buck and help subsidize some of the cost.

      I have a pre HDR 4k tv with native 120hz. Eventually will upgrade, but rather the X. With Raytracing etc, the X should still shine on an older 4k set

      I’m at a location in Vaughan. I’m person 3 actually lol. There’s now 5 people here. Who knows how many they really have. I called this store yesterday and the guy said “I can’t disclose how many the store is getting”. The first guy in line said he called and someone told him the numbers.

      I'm going with the S myself. Virtually all of my Xbox gaming is done via Game Pass right now. I think the only physical disc I own is Titanfall 2 from Dollarama. :lol:

      The size and price are also more appealing to me so it won me over. If I didn't already have a 4K DVD player I'd probably go for the Series X instead.

      If the SDM xbox pre orders go like the PS5 pre orders, even with a confirmation number you still might not get one. It happened to me with the PS5. I Tweeted SDM to find out if I was on the list and with email confirmation I still wasn't on the list. Bummer and a waste of 3.5hrs refreshing and then ordering. Good luck everyone!!!

      People with PS5 Preorders at EB are able to bring their console in later so I would assume the same for this.
