Wendy's New Breakfast Menu Comes to Canada on May 2
By Simon Hung
April 11, 2022The most important meal of the day is coming to Wendy's, where the burger chain will be launching their all-new breakfast menu in Canada on May 2.
Originally teased in February, this will be the first time Wendy's will serve a dedicated breakfast menu across all Canadian locations, as the chain looks to emulate the success of other well-established fast food breakfast competitors like A&W, McDonald's and Tim Hortons.

At launch, the Wendy's breakfast menu will consist of seven food items, including some that pay homage to Wendy's familiar non-breakfast favourites.
Signature Items
- Breakfast Baconator – a grilled square sausage patty with two slices of cheese, six strips of bacon, a freshly-cracked egg, covered in a warm Swiss cheese hollandaise-style sauce and served on a premium toasted bun
- Frosty-ccino – cold brew coffee with chocolate or vanilla Frosty flavour, served over ice
- Seasoned Potatoes – half-moon seasoned potatoes with a blend of spices, served crispy and piping hot
Classics
- Classic Sausage or Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwich – a freshly-cracked egg with your choice of a grilled square sausage patty or oven-baked smoked bacon, plus melted cheese on a freshly-toasted and buttered breakfast roll
Biscuits
- Sausage or Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit – a freshly-cracked egg on a fluffy buttermilk biscuit with your choice of grilled square sausage patty or oven-baked smoked bacon and melted cheese
- Sausage Biscuit – a grilled, square sausage patty on a fluffy buttermilk biscuit, baked fresh in-restaurant
Croissants
- Sausage or Bacon, Egg & Swiss Croissant – a freshly-cracked egg with your choice of a grilled square sausage patty or oven-baked smoked bacon, covered in savoury Swiss cheese sauce and served on a 120-layer flaky croissant
All breakfast items are made with Canadian Grade A eggs and Canadian beef (shaped into Wendy's iconic square patties, of course). In addition to the seven mouth-watering foods, Wendy's will be introducing an all-new signature coffee, brewed with 100% Arabica beans from South America and roasted in Canada.
"Our culinary team spent two years conducting extensive research to deliver this breakfast menu that is bound to change morning routines," said Wendy's International Culinary Innovation Manager Hayley Kianoff. "We tested 15 different menu concepts with more than 3700 Canadian quick service consumers to make sure we got it right. The Breakfast Baconator and the Bacon, Egg and Swiss Croissant received high ratings by consumers, while our seasoned potatoes are all but guaranteed to be among fan favourites."
Wendy's breakfast menu is scheduled to launch at over 400 locations across Canada on Monday, May 2 and you can taste the hype in-restaurant or by ordering through your favourite food delivery apps.

Here's a concept for the burger chains to consider changing to ....ALL DAY MENU. You can eat whatever you want when you want. If you want a Big Mac or a Baconator or a Whopper at 9am, you can have anytime.

Back in the day, Harvey’s had the best breakfasts of any fast food chain.

I was displeased.
The few locations in Canada might have been testing something with just the basics. Now they're going all out.
It will be all locations this time so, if they're serious about competing with other choices out there they have to have something good.
Wonder what the menu will be like...
This time round (end of April) the breakfast menu is coming directly from head office and it will be a different offering than what was offered before. Available at all (or most) locations.

Same ownership so I have no faith in Wendy's
I also don't have high expectations of fast food places to begin with, which is why I don't visit them much
Tims is not crap and Wendy's...it's hopefully going to be better. (we will see...)
As for judging, no, I'm not going to stop. RBI has shown their true colours.
Credit is long overdue where it is long over due. BK was already microwaving their burgers before being sold to RBI & Popeye's is still managing to be good. I have not had a chance to check out Firehouse subs yet but I will soon.
It is not very intelligent to judge something strictly by who owns it.
The thing that upsets me is the very idea of doing absolutely anything to be great and you'll still say it's horrible no matter what they do. NO MATTER WHAT.
You have decided something before anything. That is wrong.
That's the problem.
The Tims of today is not the Tims of the 70's or 80's, sure, but it's also not the Tims of just a few years ago either. & yes, I do admit it takes a double double to make the coffee good enough, but the food is not as bad as it has been in recent past.
I appreciate their efforts and their improvements.
It won't surprise me if Wendy's is still better, but at least Tims isn't as bad as a good 5 years ago...or even a few years ago.
