Comark Holding Inc., the parent company of clothing stores Ricki's, cleo, and Bootlegger, has filed for Creditor Protection as it looks to restructure following difficulties brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement online, Gerry Bachynski, President of Comark notes the difficulty retailers are facing worldwide due to the pandemic and went on to say, "Each of our banners will continue to stock our exclusive apparel and all of our rewards and gift card programs will continue to be honoured at this time. As has been the case since the start of store closures brought on by COVID-19, each banner’s webstore continues to remain open."
Comark currently operates over 300 stores under the Ricki's, cleo, and Bootlegger banners. At this time, it's unknown if any stores are closing, but the company's press release did note that the restructuring proceedings will "provide Comark the opportunity to optimize its store footprint and leasing costs with the aim of emerging as a stronger business, better able to serve and support its loyal customers."
