By Jordan Maxwell

Any home can be “smart”, even if it’s an older home. Smart home technology can make your home more comfortable, providing a level of convenience that will leave you wondering how you managed to live without it in the first place. Not only does it have the power to save your money on energy but it can also help to make your home safer and secure. If you’ve been keeping an eye on smart home technology but haven’t been sure where to start, we’re here to help.

Over the next month, we’re going to break down smart home technology into three categories:

  • Comfort and Convenience
  • Energy and Efficiency
  • Safety and Security

This week, we’re going to focus on smart home technology for comfort and convenience.

  • Tell jokes
Smart speakers can do a number of really cool things and depending on which model you pick, they can really offer a level of convenience to every room in the house. The two main players in the smart speaker space are Google and Amazon. Both the Google Home and Amazon Echo come in different smart home versions, designed for different use cases. For example, the smaller size of the Google Home Mini is great for tighter spaces. A Google Home Max or Amazon Echo Plus is ideal for the kitchen or living room, where you can make good use of the sound quality.
