Do you plan to travel by plane during the 2021 Holiday Season? 22% of respondents answered YES, 79% answered NO.
Do you plan to travel by plane in the future? If so, when? 45% plan to travel in the next 6–12 months; 25% within 3–6 months; 22% within 1–3 months. 20% do not plan to travel by plane in the next year.
If you plan to travel by plane, will it be for business or pleasure? 71% said they plan to travel for pleasure, 10% for both business and pleasure, and 4% for business. 15% do not plan to travel by plane at all.
If you will be travelling by plane, who will you be travelling with? Almost half will be travelling with family, while 30% will be travelling solo.
Do you feel that airlines have proper COVID-19 safety measures in place? 76% said yes, they do.
Have growing concerns over the Omicron variant affected your travel plans? 70% said no, 30% said yes, and that they had cancelled their flights.
Are you hesitant to travel or book new flights because of the Omicron variant? 63% said yes, 37% said no, they are not hesitant.
If you plan to travel by plane, where are you travelling? 48% said they will travel within Canada, 36% said they will travel to the United States, 28% said they will travel to Asia, 19% said they will travel to Europe, 18% said they will travel to the Caribbean, 6% will travel to South America, 3% will travel to Australia, 2% will travel to Africa.
If you plan to travel by plane, what type of trip will you be taking? 61% of respondents will be visiting a city, 37% of respondents will be taking a beach vacation, 21% of respondents will be visiting a town, 20% of respondents will be taking an outdoor/adventure vacation, 8% of respondents will taking another form of vacation, 5% of respondents will be taking a ski or snowboarding trip, 3% of respondents will be taking a camping or fishing vacation.
If you plan to travel by plane, will you bundle your flight and accommodation or purchase them separately? 74% will purchase their flight and accommodation separately.
Once you reach your destination, will you be renting a car? 41% of respondents will be renting a car, 59% will not be renting a car.
How much do you and your travel companions plan to spend on airfare within the next six months? 21% will spend up to $500, 24% will spend $500-$1000, 24% will spend $1000-$2000, 15% will spend $2000-$3000, 7% will spend $3000-$4000, 3% will spend $4000-$5000, 5% will spend $5000+.
How much do you and your travel companions plan to spend on accommodations within the next six months? 25% will spend up to $500, 23% will spend $500-$1000, 27% will spend $1000-$2000, 13% will spend $2000-$3000, 5% will spend $3000-$4000, 3% will spend $4000-$5000, 4% will spend $5000+.

If you plan to travel by plane, how will you book your flight? 65% of respondents said they will book directly through the airline, while 56% said they would book through a third party (such as Expedia, Kayak, or Priceline). 13% will book through a travel agent, and 4% will book through another booking source.
If you plan to travel by plane, which of the following factors will influence your decision to book a flight? 91% said price, 49% said the availability of direct flight options, 44% said airline reputation, 41% said a flexible cancellation policy, 37% said flight discounts, 35% said COVID-19 safety measures. Additionally, loyalty programs (31%), baggage allowance (29%), flight/hotel package discounts (16%), travel credit cards (13%) and "other" (2%) were mentioned.
If you plan to travel by plane, will you purchase travel insurance? 44% said they will; 56% said they will not.
What is the main online research destination you consult hen booking air travel and/or a vacation involving air travel? 36% said third party flight booking sites, while 29% said community/forum websites. 18% said airline websites, and 14% said travel blogs.
