Canada's Wonderland Announces WinterFest and a New 245' Drop Roller Coaster for 2019
By Thomas Kenzaki
August 15, 2018What better way to build up hype for a theme parks next operating season than by announcing 2 huge new changes! Canada's Wonderland just announced that they're building a brand new drop rollercoaster, Yukon Striker, and also launching a new holiday themed celebration, WinterFest, which will see the park open for the first time in the months of November and December 2019.
Yukon Striker
Canada's Wonderland describes it as the longest, fastest, and tallest dive roller coaster in the world. A dive coaster is a roller coaster with one or more vertical drops of around 90 degrees which offer riders the feeling of free falling. Yukon Striker will be the very first dive coaster in Canada and increases the coaster count at Canada's Wonderland to 17.
The ride offers a "hold and dive" feature which dangles you at the top of the 245' drop before letting go and launching you downwards at speeds up to 130km/h, including an underwater tunnel section. This ride is not for the faint of heart and will likely attract thrill seekers from around the world when it opens in 2019.
WinterFest
Have you ever wished that Canada's Wonderland would stay open later each year? In 2019 you'll finally be able to visit past Halloween time! The newly announced WinterFest is an immersive holiday experience which will see the theme park open up from late November and December.
If you look at 4-season theme parks down south or in other parks of the world, you'll know that most of them run special Winter/Christmas themed celebrations which are extremely popular with park guests. It's a challenge to do so here in Canada due to our cold winters but Canada's Wonderland has finally figured out how to do it and is taking their shot.
The park will be transformed with Christmas trees, lights, special treats, crafts, and activities, live entertainment and so much more! You'll even be able to skate on the International Street fountain which will be frozen oven and renamed Snowflake Lake. Being a theme park, many will want to visit for the rides. Canada's Wonderland has stated that select rides and attractions will be open (weather permitting). I would love to experience the frost bite that can only come from riding Behemoth in December!
Season Pass Changes
You can now purchase your 2019 season passes for just $72.99. This grants you access for not only the regular 2019 operating season but also the remainder of 2018. This is the best time of year to purchase one as prices do not typically go any lower.
New in 2019 is the addition of the Gold Pass. The Gold Pass offers all the same benefits of the regular season pass but also includes admission to Halloween Haunt and WinterFest which are normally an extra fee. The Gold Pass is available for purchase today for $99.99.

my kids love that place and they asked twice at the front gate, both times the people working the booth confirmed it
that is why it is not included in the pass for 2019 renewals
I don't see much to do for kids <42". Is that true?
2018 Season Pass = $69
2018 Meal Plan = $79
Restrictions on parking + bring friend
Plus removal of Dinosaurs next year (building new area I guess?)
For a normal family of 4, you are looking at a minimum of +$10 per person & parking increase so +$45
That is a substantial increase
2. If you renew you get your fastlane through redemptions window, not guest services. They're located between guest services and regular ticket sales. Super simple.
Costco is cheapest for single day tickets
1... I got the season parking pass (noticed it's a significant increase from last year), will the parking pass include parking during Halloween Haunt and Winter fest??? (since they normally make you pay extra during those events)
2... is Guest Service the only place to get those fastlane passes? normally the line up there is ridiculous
thansk for the help (from an ex Wonderland staff)
It cant be used next year
Go to guest services
Can't do online
The camera will read plate and just open gate no need to talk to anyone (its quicker to enter)
