Amazon Removes $25 Minimum Threshold for One-Day Deliveries in Canada

It'll be easier than ever to receive your orders quickly from Amazon, as the company has removed the $25.00 minimum threshold for one-day deliveries in Canada.

Originally launched in 2017 exclusively for Amazon Prime members, one-day delivery is a shipping option where you can have select products delivered to your door within 24 hours, even on weekends. One-day delivery is available in most regions across Canada and this update does not apply to same-day delivery, as a $25.00 order is still required for same-day shipping.

One-day delivery can be especially helpful when ordering low-cost essentials like snacks and cleaning supplies, as it often saves a trip to a brick-and-mortar store. Previously, the $25.00 minimum threshold was a small hurdle for shoppers who only wanted one or two items, since it meant having to inflate your order total to have it delivered the next day.

Now, you can order sub-$25.00 items like a single bag of Cadbury Mini Eggs or a box of Lysol Disinfecting Wipes and have it show up on your doorstep the next day.

The $25.00 minimum threshold has been a requirement ever since one-day delivery was introduced in Canada, while orders below the threshold automatically defaulted to Amazon's two-day (often longer) delivery speed. According to Amazon Canada, there are "millions of items" eligible for one-day delivery and participating products will display a Prime One-Day icon next to their price on Amazon product pages.

"Since launching Canada's Prime program in 2013, we have obsessed over making our member's lives better every day," said Amazon Canada Country Manager Mike Strauch. "Now with the removal of the minimum purchase requirement on items eligible for Prime Free One-Day Delivery, we've made it even easier for Prime members to get even more items shipped even faster for free. We will keep adding more selection and expanding our delivery areas to ensure more Prime members get their products faster than ever."

An Amazon Prime membership is required for one-day delivery – subscriptions start at $7.99 per month in Canada and free trials are available for new members.
