Amazon to Delay Prime Day 2021 in Canada
By Simon Hung
May 7, 2021Amazon is postponing their annual Prime Day shopping event in Canada, due to concerns of rising COVID-19 cases and slow vaccination rollout throughout the country. The company is also taking the same precaution in India, as their COVID-19 crisis continues to worsen with over 400,000 new cases this past Thursday alone.
No re-scheduled date was provided and the delay will not impact other markets including China, France, Germany, Spain, the United States and United Kingdom, where Prime Day 2021 is expected to continue as scheduled on an unannounced date in June.
Originally launched in 2015, Amazon Prime Day is an annual sales event held worldwide exclusively for Amazon Prime members. The event usually occurred in July, but Amazon was forced to delay last year's Prime Day until mid-October due to the COVID-19 pandemic, with the two-day event taking place on October 13 and 14.
Delaying the popular event is a prudent move for Amazon to mitigate the risk of exposure to warehouse employees, as the company has come under scrutiny for the treatment of their warehouse staff and delivery drivers throughout the pandemic. In March, Amazon's Brampton, Ontario warehouse was shut down by the provincial government due to an outbreak of COVID-19, prompting the Ministry of Labour to launch an investigation into potential labour violations.
Prime Day has become one of the most-anticipated shopping events on RedFlagDeals, generating over 7000 posts and 1.7 million views on our forum last year. We'll have more Prime Day 2021 updates as the situation develops and have complete coverage of the shopping event when it occurs in Canada later this year.

I spend tens of thousands just through one account every year.
Christmas will bring good tidings for deals, as crypto calms down. Assuming inflation doesn't runaway.
Unwinnable arguments by all sides but the fact remains, no Prime Day. Hope they make up for it some other way.
In short, take your W. There's no hate here, just an unabashed urge to live a free and prosperous life (in matters of family, finances, and faith).

Back to the topic at hand, Amazon Prime Day is dead, look forward to Black Friday / Christmas / Boxing Day 2021. My best successes from Amazon.ca have been price errors, and a quick finger on RFD, but the holiday seasons do bring special opportunities.
I encourage you to speak to Canadian expats in the US and ask them how they're doing. Don't take my word for it.
For the time being, my investments and my associations tie me to Southern Ontario... for now. The ignorance veil was lifted from my eyes before age 25, revealing the stark difference in opportunity between our two countries.
This Prime fiasco is just another example, and a mild example at that.
True, this is old news, and yet it's more true now than it was even 10 years ago.
These last 18 months have been a massive eye-opener for me, seeing how Canada deals with COVID, over the saner Midwestern and Southern US states.
You deserve credit for at least acknowledging this reality.
Anyways, carry on folks.
I don't think there is anything new here, old news
Meanwhile in Florida (and many other parts of the US) covid cases are on the rise again as variants are affecting the young and stupid or the unvaccinated and stupid.
But honestly, as terrible as our oppressive regime is, by all means go south where everything is better. All I know is there is no such thing as a free lunch, the grass is always greener, and everything comes at a price.
I've grown up in a world where the best of all things was bestowed upon America the Great, and wondered why we played second banana. In the last 10 years, it's become clear, we do it to ourselves.
By sabotaging Amazon's shipping and logistics network during COVID and introducing heavy uncertainty into the Fall of 2021, we nixed any plans they had for a full scale Prime Day. We're 10% of the US market, and we're not worth the heavy effort involved to solve this logistical puzzle in the face of rolling COVID-related impingements.
Emergency powers and related limitations will be with us until December 31, 2021, and possibly into Q1 2022.
Meanwhile, in Florida, there are virtually zero limitations on commerce at pre-COVID levels of engagement.
As an aside, I'm active in a real estate group, and many of our successful compatriots are actively talking about fleeing Canada for the US because their earning potential is higher, and real estate is far cheaper (particularly in proportion to rental income) ... and retail spending power is higher dollar per dollar.
We have a real problem in this country, and this Prime Day cancellation is just one symptom.
We all KNOW these folks.
The middle BLAMING BOTH the top & the bottom
Blaming the immigrants tho is rich
We all came from hard working immigrant roots (unless you are First Nations / Inuit heritage)
And the unions …
And Canada’s social programs
That’s actually what built our middle class
And brought them out of poverty
People really need to READ more
And learn Cdn history
That their own families fought for !
And worked hard to establish
So we all do better
Its such an easy cop out to blame CERB for the current labour shortage when the real reasons are obvious. Employers have cut back permanent Full Time positions that offer stable hours and benefits to protect profits for stake holders. Add to that inflation and the increase in housing and no one can afford to 'work' in minimum wage part time positions. Take one of the largest employers in the country, walmart. they now almost exclusively hire 'flex' positions. This means part time and you need to be available at a moments notice to work. Minimum wage and no benefits... They they cry about not finding people to work these mcjobs.
$2000 a month from the government was and is NOT enough money for people to live off of and is such a red herring.
Not until the next "crisis" anyway, something different to blame all the lazy people and immigrants our country is full of, and who destroy our sacred way of life
/sarcasm
The CERB benefit is over — here's what you need to know now
Looks like the current rumour du jour is that Prime Day is cancelled entirely

Thanks for bringing this to our attention!
Well clearly a lot has changed since you posted this comment on May 3rd
July is gonna be a HUGE travel month not only in North America … as it is historically cuz it’s Summertime vacation
But this year … it’s now projected to be really big in Canada as more and more of the country will be opening up … and Cdns are actually itching to travel
Be it to explore Canada … or enjoy the great weather … after such a long period of Covid Restrictions (15+ months)
Or … for many … the very first opportunity to travel to see loved ones / friends & family that are a good distance from home … know folks who’ve not seen each other since Christmas 2019
I know that’s our plan … already got family coming in July … and we have bought airline tickets for future trips this Fall to see others.
Lots of pent up angst (and money) from lack of travel … everyone I know seemingly has something on the books be it a flight, train or bus trip, car rentals, hotels, or camping
And Weddings … I have already heard of 3 Weddings coming soon … that were rescheduled from 2020
So gonna be a lot of family reunions & celebrations in Summer & Fall 2021
The floodgates to get back out there are gonna be wide open come July & August

Much appreciated
Just downvote it into oblivion since it's still open
So glad to hear that the Mods are looking into a way of solving this issue.
(To be fair … it’s not just this OP & this post … it’s something seen far too often on RFD )
I and I am sure others … would welcome an open discussion on the issue

Erase / Delete / Modify so much of the Original Post that the entire thread goes to waste ?
This time we have here neither a title, or any sense of what the 2-1/2 months worth of convo was about by looking at either the Forum Directory listing (topic line blank) nor the first post in the thread (entirely erased)

I recently ordered from Amazon Japan April 11, (it says estimated arrival April 20) and the package cleared @ customs Edm April 12 - delivered by DHL on the 13th. DHL is Amazon Japan designated carrier. I usually order from Rakuten Ichiban (despite products 50% cheaper than Amazon) since COVID they switched to Fedex shipping cost 3x more
