Next-generation gaming is coming sooner than you think, as Sony has officially opened pre-orders for their new PlayStation 5 console in Canada.

Here's a roundup of every retailer in Canada with pre-orders available for the PlayStation 5, followed by a brief overview of the console – while some stores may be sold out of initial stock allocations, there have been a few reports of intermittent availability (particularly at Amazon.ca and Walmart).

Originally unveiled on June 10, the PlayStation 5 is Sony's successor to the PlayStation 4, with support for next-generation games at up to 4K resolution, ray-tracing, SSD storage, backwards compatibility with most PS4 games and more. The console will come in two variants – a Standard Edition with a built-in Blu-ray drive and a Digital Edition. Both models have identical hardware, but the Digital Edition omits a disc drive, which means it can only play digital games from the PlayStation Store and cannot play Blu-ray movies. A new DualSense wireless controller is included with all PS5 consoles, with a refined design and features like haptic feedback, dynamic triggers and improved motion sensors.

The PlayStation 5 is scheduled to launch on November 12 and will carry several highly-anticipated exclusives at launch and in the future including Marvel's Spider-Man: Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West, Final Fantasy XVI, an untitled God of War sequel and more. Happy hunting!
