Starting next month Walmart Canada will put an end to their long standing, consumer friendly policy of price matching other retailers. Here’s what to expect when the new policy goes into effect on October 15, 2020.
Walmart has long been one of the best places in Canada to shop due to aggressively priced products, and the ability to ad match other retailers. That policy allowed shoppers to make a single trip to Walmart to get everything they wanted at advertised sale prices from other retailers.
After October 15th, you’ll no longer be able to ad match other retailers in-store or at Walmart.ca. Walmart stores will however still price match their own website, Walmart.ca (should an item be available for less online).
The reasons given by Walmart for the change is that there’s “minimal usage of our (Walmart’s) Ad Match program” and that “the program has been causing delays at the checkout”.
Walmart has also released a statement saying that the decision to end their ad matching program was not due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic (for those wondering).
Now that Walmart is ending ad matching in Canada, will you still continue to shop there or look for better alternatives to get the best bang for your hard earned dollar? Let us know in the comments below.
