Bird Canada first announced their plans to launch e-scooter rentals in Canada just a few months ago. Since then they’ve launched in Calgary and Edmonton. Toronto riders will be able to start riding today, but there’s a catch. It’s only a temporary pilot program that runs until September 15th.
If you live in the Greater Toronto Area and want to try out an e-scooter, head to the Distillery District in downtown Toronto. Bird Canada is running a special pilot program from September 5 to September 15 during the hours of 4pm-8pm on weekdays, and 10am-8pm on weekends.
Bird Canada is inviting anyone interested to come down and test ride their Bird One e-scooter. You’ll also be able to speak with a Bird representative and receive free Bird swag (who doesn’t love free swag?).
Since e-scooters are not yet approved for use by the Province of Ontario, the only way to ride is on private property (like the Distillery District).
While it’s still currently unknown when Torontonians will be able to start renting e-scooters and ride them on the roads, a recent announcement was made which makes it appear that day might be coming sooner rather than later.
