Chick-fil-A's Toronto Location is Opening Soon: Here’s Everything We Know Including Where It’ll Be

April 11, 2019[Updated: August 28, 2019] Chick-fil-A Opens in Canada Soon, See How The Menu and Pricing Compares to the US
There are 2 main groups of people when it comes to Chick-fil-A: The excited diehard fans, and those who don’t want them in Canada (more on that later). Whichever side you’re on, the fact of the matter is that Chick-fil-A will be expanding into Canada this year, with Toronto being their first stop. Here’s everything we know about their Canadian expansion.
Who is Chick-fil-A
Chick-fil-A is famous for their delicious chicken-centric quick-service menu, the highlight of which is their Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich. A hot and juicy, perfectly fried chicken fillet on a fresh buttered bun with 2 perfect pickles.
Anyone who has eaten there before will also know about their excellent customer service, which consistently places them amongst the best in US surveys. It’s almost unbelievable how quickly your food comes up after ordering.
Another reason they’re famous is due to their founders personal beliefs. For example, all Chick-fil-A restaurant locations are closed on Sundays to give their employees a day of rest. The founders have also made donations which have supported anti-LGBTQ organizations.
International Expansion
When Chick-fil-A announced it was expanding internationally, that was huge news. It’s a lesser known fact but Canada was already home to the first international Chick-fil-A (located at the Calgary airport). That location opened up in 2014 but closed for good earlier this year.
When the first restaurant in Toronto opens up this year, it will be the only Chick-fil-A located outside of the US. Their plan is to open 15 locations over 5 years in the greater Toronto area.
What to Expect / Sneak Preview
The first Chick-fil-A Toronto restaurant will be downtown at Yonge and Bloor
There are a lot of unknowns when it comes to Chick-fil-A opening up in Canada. Will the menu be the same? What will the pricing be like? Will they also be closed on Sundays?
To help answer some of these questions, Chick-fil-A held a special private event in Toronto on April 10th to give fans a taste of what’s to come and start building some excitement. Here’s what we learned:
- The first Chick-fil-A Toronto restaurant will be downtown at Yonge and Bloor (1 Bloor Street East)
- The projected opening date is late summer/early fall (August/September)
- The majority of the menu will be the same as in the US
- Chick-fil-A knows Canadians are big on coffee and will be creating a unique blend for Canada
- Their famous Sweet Tea and Lemonade will both be coming to Canada
- Ingredients (chicken, produce, and more) will be primarily locally sourced from Canada
- All 7 Chick-fil-A signature sauces will be coming to Canada
- Canadian locations will also be closed on Sundays
Mobile App, Rewards Program, & Mobile Ordering
One detail as juicy as their chicken that I picked up on when looking at the first store’s concept art was the availability of Mobile Ordering. In the US Chick-fil-A has a great app that allows you to mobile order and also acts as their rewards program (called Chick-fil-A One).
Knowing how busy each Chick-fil-A location will be after it opens makes having a mobile ordering system invaluable and I would be surprised if it wasn’t in place when their first location opens up.
Other Fun Facts
The location of the second Chick-fil-A restaurant in Canada is possibly going to be Yorkdale Shopping Centre (a Chick-fil-A employee would neither confirm or deny when asked).
When Chick-fil-A opens new restaurant locations in the US, they often hold a signature “First 100” promotion where the first 100 customers at their grand opening will receive free Chick-fil-A for a year (I know some of you RFDer’s out there would be down for this).
When asked if they would be continuing the First 100 promotion in Canada I was told that it’s something they’re “looking into”. If they can’t for legal or logistical reasons, another fun grand opening activation event will take place instead.
Final Thoughts
Whatever side of the Chick-fil-A hype train you’re on, they’re coming to Canada this year and have big plans to take a bite out of the Canadian quick-service restaurant market.
If you’re a fan of their food, you’ll only have to wait a short 4-5 more months until they finally open their doors for business.

Exciting. That is the location.
no crave for this .... since i air fry my own nuggets and make my own dipping sauce ... sure beats the HELL out of fighting with losers in the parking lot in line ... and definitely my time is NOT WORTH waiting for this ...
wait till the RUSH dies and see if i want it (apparently a crap load of people has not tried this because the other locations are too far to drive .... ooooooo ).
More interested in the Mucho Burrito and Thai Express that will be opening up.
I tried turning left at the lights at Taunton and wasn't able to. I couldn't even get into the plaza as the lineup stretched out of the parking lot, onto the street and blocked the intersection where the traffic lights are. There might have been 1 car able to turn left every other light and the 3-4 cars ahead of me gave up as well. There has to be 15+ cars trying to turn right every time the light stopped and there was no way anyone was turning left from the opposite direction.
Just nuts. I'll try again in a few weeks
And a few job postings in Edmonton, AB.
(& They are right next door to Chick fil a also, in STC...)
I'm not going to Square One and dealing with the crowds there just to get a sandwich.
We did get a Dave's Hot Chicken in Burlington but meh.. kind of expensive.
I like that they have milkshakes....to me, having a milkshake with my greasy burger and fries is a good thing. The sandwich itself is fine, but it doesn't stand out to me against the popeyes/mb. I like that more chains are offering grilled (not fried) sandwiches which should be a bit healthier (my wife often chooses that)
Overall, I might choose CFA over other food court choices, but probably wouldn't go out of my way to go there. I've never been to Canadian one.....just the US ones a few times. I also wish there were better side choices like onion rings at popeyes

Not going to lie - I was a little disappointed. It was fresh and hot but I thought the flavor of the sandwich fell short even with "the sauce". Think I prefer Mary's or Popeye's ...

Food was good, tastes exactly how I remember it did when in the US last. Having said that, I think I still prefer Popeye's if I'm going to eat this type of food.

Not sure what happened to the Burlington store that was rumored.
The hall of fame is a must see for any football fan Just outstanding films, trophies and skills challenge areas for kids (and adults).
But hey, its a Chick Fil A thread and you, there is a Chick Fil A eatery right on premises. So we went in for lunch.
What can I say? It is a chicken sandwich place. It also has nuggets. Oh and the waffle fries. Yup, just another chicken joint. I would not cross the street to go there. Absolutely nothing special about it at all. It will do good in the beginning because it is a novelty and new and then drift into neverland.
You're correct by 1 gram.
