    • I know this offer is over but I have a general question regarding trade in as I have never done it before.

So currently they are offering $280 trade in for a regular switch. Will this be given to me as cash? Visa Gift card? EB game gift card?

    • This shouldn’t be in Expired. Traded mine in today, I think they told me the deal was on until something like the 28th. Had to have the HDMI cable too. Seems like I just found out in time as my store only had one left and another sold out this afternoon.

Unfortunately no white ones left, which is weird when you can still pre-order the white online. I wonder if there’s any solution to that by ordering the white to home and exchanging or something?
Which location u goto? All the stores I went to days they out

    • Do you have to trade-in your Switch the day of the pre-order or when you grab the OLED switch?
How would EBG make money selling your Switch if you didn't give it until the day your old Switch has its value tank?

    • Does EB provide some sort of warranty for used consoles? I bought a used OG PlayStation Vita for like $99 a few years ago from them but I don’t remember if it came with any Warranty.
Not sure. I think 7days? I think u can buy their extended warranty to cover it too.

They do but I can't remember if it's a couple weeks or a month.

You can buy an extended warranty the same way you can for new consoles as well (but I think it's cheaper because it's based on price not the actual console). Works the exact same way as well.

    • Because there are people buying them. Better question is:

Why would people buy used, old technology at inflated prices at EB Games?
Rather, why does Nintendo use 6 year old technology, charge even more, and, in turn, shaft their customers? Could they be any more greedy?

    • Cause not all people are comfy to buy a used console from strangers on kijiji. My friend is like that. They rather pay the premium for peace of mind.

I've been under the impression to get the promo price you need to do the trade when you place your pre-order.

    • For me I still have original switch. Got this 3 months after launch. Battery life is getting worse, and one of the contollers battery is not as long either.

The other deal for $170+tax good upgrade for me lol.

    • Went ahead and did this. Make sure you have everything including those little black controller attachments that make the controllers slightly bigger.

    • Trade in console at time of pickup is not a bad deal.

But like I said 150 for a physical ethernet (you won't use) and a nicer screen doesn't seem like money well spent to me.
I play with the switch in the dock 99% of the time, so this upgrade would be useless for me. Not sure why you would need an Ethernet port either when wifi is fast enough.

Guess it's good for anyone that needs to replace joycons and near end cycle battery.

Nintendo wants all the unpatched switches off the market lol
How exactly is this "off the market" if EB turns around and resells it after you trade it in? Can you guys stop with your conspiracy theory nonsense with how trade-ins to EB work?

    • I'll likely trade mine in for the other promo running, the console trade-in event. It runs until August 29th (see https://www.ebgames.ca/Views/Locale/Con ... 200727.pdf) and you'll be given $280 for a Switch. So basically $20 less but not a big deal for me. I'll just have to live without the Switch for a month. If I had kids I'd just tell them they have to concentrate on school for a bit anyway.

Edit: Whoops, quoted the wrong person. Removed the quote.

    • It is this type of Manager that gives EB a bad rep.
If it's one bad manager, find a shift when the manager isn't working, or go to another GameStop (they're called GameStop now, let's show some respect).

    • Needs to be traded in right away. They will most likely redo the event at launch like they did with Nintendo switch pokemon let's go edition. However that is not guaranteed.

    • I love my switched but I'd say wait until some reviews come in and then go the SDM route on a 20x day. Get some optimum points and then get some games or accessories. Or whatever you want with those points.

Thats not fully true, you wouldnt connect with backups but you can dual boot.

    • Traded a mint spare 9 month old V2 Switch with worn out joycons…

Traded it because $149 for new joycons, new warranty and upgraded dock seems worth it for me. I mostly play undocked so the OLED screen is worth it for me.

I barely have time to play due to work and kids so I opted to maximize the enjoyment out of it with the new screen.

Life is too short to fret about a one time $149 upgrade fee…can sell the dock on it’s own to offset costs too.
