RedFlagDeals.com Where to Buy the PlayStation 5 (PS5) in Canada Where to Buy the PlayStation 5 in 2022!
get this dealSony's PlayStation 5 (PS5) console is one of the most difficult products to find in Canada, reaching Bigfoot-levels of elusiveness at retailers across the country.
Over a year after its November 2020 launch, the PS5 is still one of the most sought-after products and has been sold out at every major retailer for extended periods of time in 2021-22. While the console has been re-stocked several times this past year, stock usually sells out within minutes whenever any retailer re-stocks.
Finding the PS5 takes a lot of persistence and a little luck, as retailers often drop stock at random times to avoid a deluge of traffic and deter third-party scalpers – here are the best stores to buy a PlayStation 5 in Canada in 2022.
The Best Stores
- Best Buy – Best Buy has re-stocked PS5 consoles intermittently in 2021, often with in-store pickup orders only. Notice is sometimes (not always) provided through their gaming-focused Twitter account, @BBYC_Gamers
- Costco – Costco re-stocks a PlayStation 5 Ratchet & Clank bundle approximately once per month. The bundle is available online only and a Costco membership is required to purchase
- GameStop – GameStop (formerly EB Games) has re-stocked PS5 bundles frequently in 2021, often at 10:00 AM ET. Notice is provided through @GameStopCanada on Twitter with stock available for about 30 minutes
- Walmart – Walmart re-stocks PS5 consoles at midnight ET approximately once per month. Notice is provided through @WalmartCAGaming on Twitter and the late-night drop means stock is usually available for upwards of an hour
The Other Stores
- Air Miles – two PS5 bundles are available from Air Miles with infrequent re-stocks in 2021. The major caveat is that they're only available by redeeming up to 10,810 Dream Miles and cannot be purchased outright
- Amazon.ca – Amazon.ca has re-stocked PS5 consoles several times in 2021, but stock typically sells out within seconds due to Amazon's susceptibility to "bots" (automated programs designed to purchase items instantly). Note that Amazon.ca lists overpriced third-party sellers on their generic PS5 product pages, so be sure to double-check the price and that the seller is Amazon.ca if you're lucky enough to find stock
- London Drugs – London Drugs carried the PS5 at launch, but the console has been unavailable for most of 2021. However, London Drugs is a favourite for those in Western Canada, as their pacific time operating schedule means fewer people in Ontario are up during midnight drops
- Real Canadian Superstore – a PS5 bundle with an extra controller has been occasionally re-stocked at Real Canadian Superstore in 2021. The bundle is available online only and worth checking from time-to-time, since not many people know about Real Canadian Superstore's online shop
- Shoppers Drug Mart – PS5 consoles have not been available online since launch, but some lucky customers have spotted consoles in-stores at various times in 2021
- Staples – Staples held a one-day purchase lottery for the PS5 at launch and the console has not been re-stocked since. However, a PS5 product page exists and PS5 accessories are available online, which may indicate availability in the future
- The Source – The Source has re-stocked the PS5 just once in 2021, at the start of the year in January. The shopping experience was a catastrophe, but it's likely they'll have stock before the holidays (maybe)
- Toys R Us – Toys R Us carried the PS5 at launch, but the console has not been re-stocked since. PS5 accessories are available online, but it's unknown if the actual console will be re-stocked this year
Originally launched in November 2020, the PlayStation 5 is Sony's successor to the PlayStation 4 and one of the most sought-after products in 2020-2021, capable of playing next-generation games at up to 4K, ray-tracing, SSD storage and backwards compatibility with most PS4 games.
The PS5 comes two variants – a Standard Edition with a built-in Blu-ray drive for $629.99 and a Digital Edition without a Blu-ray drive for $499.99.

Cool
Would the discless version allow me to download them or am I missing out on buying used games off Kijiji?
The other part of me is saying "You have a PS4 with 10+ games still in the wrapping including God of War, FFVII Remake, GTA V, LIttle Big Planet 2, Battlefield V, etc....and due to having two kids you can't find time to play".
Then, again YOLO!
