      Not a great game?
Actually, the game has improved quite a lot this year and some have even liked it more than the microtransaction infested 2K19.

Metacritic User rating for 2K19: 2.5/10
Metacritic User rating for Live 19: 6.5/10

    • This game is very fun - better graphics than 2k.

    • Gonna give this a shot! I've always wanted to try one of the NBA games and for $8, I got nothing to lose.

    • My son will be pleased... That is, until I woop his ass at this game and rub it in his face. Daddy is gonna practice tonight 😈

    • This is about the price range Battlefield 1 dropped to before it went to GWG or EA pass. I smell a freebie soon

    • Not sure about online play but 2k19 single player is pretty good this year. You can play a season with all-time greatest players of a team

He'll probably think you're punishing him by making him play this game. The worst sports franchise of the generation by far

    • how do the different game modes compare to 2K? Are there downloadable rosters from other users like in 2K? I enjoy doing franchise mode rebuilds so that would be really cool if there was

      And paid-for reviews are better?

Personally, unless you're a hardcore 2K fanboy who has the control scheme ingrained in his or her fingers and would burst into flame when playing an EA version, then this is a super deal for the casual fan to take a stab at. Remember, it's not just the base game, but it's similar to Madden Super Bowl Edition, with card pack, players and extras.

I'm probably going to buy it, and I stayed away from the micro-transaction-laden 2K this year. I just like to play the odd game, not make it a lifestyle that I need a second job in order to afford the extras.

    • If one was only interested in single player / offline modes. Would 2k or Live be the better game to get? I assume the micro transactions that everyone is shitting on 2k for revolves around the online game modes only?

Exactly my thinking, good time to use the $45 from the Costco 3 month Xbox gold card deal

So do you suggest going with the paid reviews then? Because that got a 72/100.

Clearly this is coming from someone who hasn't played the game themselves and is jumping on the hate-wagon because of past experiences.

      It affects everything, like everything.

"2K19 is like a free-to-play mobile game, a predatory experience where the game is always shaking you down for your lunch money, even after you’ve already given it $60. To play 2K19 is to be in a constant state of denial and refusal, always aware that in every aspect of the game, from the gyms to the stores to the action on the court itself, you can either spend VC or be told that you’re missing out on something."
