Catch 'em all with a unique console this fall, because the Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) – Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Edition is now available to pre-order in Canada.

NOTE: Pokémon Scarlet and Violet are not included with the console and sold separately – click here to view our roundup of where to buy the standalone games.

Originally unveiled on September 7, this special edition Nintendo Switch console features a design inspired by the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, with a glossy white dock and numerous illustrations including each game's Legendary Pokémon (Koraidon and Miraidon), Starter Pokémon (Fuecoco, Sprigatito and Quaxly) and other Pokémon-themed motifs. In addition, the included Joy-Cons come in matching Scarlet and Violet colours with crests of the in-game schools, Naranja and Uva Academy.

Functionally, the Pokémon Edition Nintendo Switch is identical to the standard Nintendo Switch (OLED Model), but there is a slight markup of $20.00 for the unique Pokémon-themed design.

The Nintendo Switch (OLED Model) Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Edition is scheduled for release on November 4 and qualifies for free shipping at all stores listed.

    • Would Nintendo Switch be the most budget friendly option if all I want to play is the "Just Dance" game?

    • Nintendo diehard fans are crazy, even more than just the Pokémon fans. Anyone buying an OLED over the cheaper V2 Switch is wasting their money for underwhelming hardware, as the screen is not worth that significant of a price jump. It’s moves like these that allow Nintendo to screw over the more price conscious fans who want the most out of their console. I guess the benefit of buying the more limited edition Switch OLEDs is that they may retain more resale value down the road.
Nintendo is more expensive to get into, but it is a better value because the first party stuff rarely tanks in price.

Someone could have bought Breath Of The Wild in 2017, and still sell it today for 50+. Gamestop also regularly has Switch trade in events where they offer 50-60 per game.

I buy most of my games at Shoppers with 20x the points, or bonus redemption, and also usually when they go on sale once every few months. I could turn around and sell my Switch collection tomorrow, and at the very least, break even. I would probably make a small profit.

Only looking at physical games, a console like the PS4 is going to have the best bang for your buck in terms of great games at a low price, since their greatest hits titles often go on sale for $10. But if you buy a AAA title on the PS4, you're not getting back 75 percent of what you paid for it when you go to sell it 5 years later like with Nintendo titles. So from that respect, the Switch is a good value.

In terms of the OLED, it is worth it if you play handheld. It isn't worth it if you play docked.

    • There's zero chance this is coming to Shoppers. The only one they've gotten is the Animal Crossing one and that's because Nintendo ended up treating that one like a standard-edition Switch in the end.

I suspect this one is actually going to sell out (unlike the Splatoon 3 one) even if more stock is made available prior to release, simply because Pokemon is far more popular than Splatoon, but I suspect most people are still holding out for a BotW2 edition console.

The screen on the oled is absolutely worth the price difference, it’s not even close. I’m also not sure what kind of power you expect from a handheld hybrid console. They could make it cheaper without the joycons, and without the dock. That’s the switch lite. A 7 inch oled screen makes for a much better experience, and it’s not some insignificant cheap upgrade.

Edit: the steam deck goes for what, $500? Has a screen that doesn’t even come close to competing with the switch oled. And while the performance is better, the battery life is awful. The steam deck dock isn’t even out yet either, but I’m guessing that will be another $100 or so and an external controller is another $60 or so.

    • Best buy charges when they ship and have for as long as I. An remember
      Kk thnx

Also everyone remember usually they have special trade in incentives during these times so be on the lookout, especially near holidays like this. I remember they had old Nintendo switch for $325 value trade in that's 325 plus tax if you are trading directly so $367 off the price of the $531 this pokemon switch would cost you. That's if they have this promo again of course.

Can't see why they won't, they need used consoles to sell off for Christmas presents at a cheaper price

    • 1) please let people know it doesn't include a game as they usually do digitally (lets go pikachu, diablo 3, monster hunter, super smash bros, Mario kart 8 edition consoles) all came with the game included.
      2) As for people thinking this will be easy to get like Animal Crossing edition... find a brand new of the consoles I listed, you can't for retail. Animal Crossing was just a one time exception because of Covid and people complaining they couldn't go get their consoles so Nintendo over produced to help out.
      3) Thanks for the heads up didn't even know this console was a thing, tempted to get

      4) Get it from Gamestop, you just give a deposit, in my case they want $45 so 10% of the pretax value which is refundable, you pay the rest on November 11. If you get from Bestbuy you pay for it all upfront now, unless they changed it to only charge when it ships? Please clarify if anyone knows this.

    • If the Animal Crossing console is any indication, this won't be any harder to come by than a standard OLED.

Just wait and get it at Shoppers with 20x the points or something.

Shoppers doesn't get limited edition ones like this, just holiday bundles like the Mario Kart Deluxe version, never seen Pokemon, or Diablo, or Monster Hunter or any others at Shoppers

And like those Animal Crossing editions, scalpers will probably keep trying to resell these above retail over and over whether they're in stock or not :).

EDIT: I did a quick Kijiji search, it's still going on in my area!!! :)

    • I don't follow Nintendo products here but I read some info on this the other day.

It's OLED Themed Pokémon with Graffiti like art that is quite cool.
It's suppose to be $10 more I'm guessing $20 in Canada.
It does not include the Pokémon game nor do these types of consoles ever do. It's about getting people to upgrade to OLED / Have multiple handhelds in a families hand pretty much.

    • Is this a good price or just a new model? Been looking for one for my daughter but dang it's pricey to get setup.
Regular price, new colour scheme. Note it doesn’t include the game or anything but rather just the same console tho it’s released at a newer date so newer version of software if that matters to you (but odds are you will auto update the first time you turn it on anyways lol).
