I know many people are going to hold off on the PS5 until there’s a solid library. Launch PS4 was kinda unnecessary because most titles were already on previous gen.

    • Someone please try to convince me to buy one. I do not see the point of remapping the buttons to the back. What are the advantages in doing so?

I normally play rpg/open world games and will this attachment improve my gameplay?

That’s why I ordered one. I do wish I could play games like Black Ops or Valhalla on the newest tech but PS4 will do.

For me it’s for first person shooters like COD where reloading with a back button instead of square means I don’t have to move my right thumb away from R3. Same for gun switch or slide. For other genres. I can’t say.

    • I map the R1 and L1 to the back and can't imagine going back on overwatch now; it's so natural feeling. If I were good, I'd map the jump and reload to them, so I could aim at the same time. I'm awful though.

It doesnt necessarily improve but can create a better experience. I find its useful for games where you need to use the d-pad. Inherently, you need to take your thumb off the stick to do this which can cause a delay or lack of camera control for a moment.

I've primarily used it for Overwatch and FF7 remake. For FF7, its fantastic as i use it to quickly swap between character seamlessly. I find it odd playing that game without the backbutton.

The personal annoyance of the back button is i can no longer throw my controller easily on the charging cradle.

Agree in many ways. I dont know anyone itching to get a PS5 right now. We all have huge backlogs of great games on current gen and because a lot of people are into service games, those are sufficient to last us for a while (COD, Monster hunter, overwatch, R6 siege).

The thought of spending $600+ on a new system for a line up which, to be honest, we can wait on... it doesnt seem to appeal to myself.

But who knows...we're on redflags..the second preorders go up, i'm sure we'll all rush to get one by the mere fact that scalpers or others may snatch it up first.

Let's say you have your index and middle fingers (like operating a tank in Battlefield) on the triggers and R/L1s while your thumbs are on the sticks, and you need to press one of the face buttons to heal, reload, spot the enemy, or any crucial action.
I used to have a similar solution when I played BFBC2 on ps3 religiously, can't wait to have this feature again.

    • This solves any games that have essential functions on L3/R3, which are the worst buttons ever

    • May not be the best back buttons in the biz but these are hard to find, thanks OP.
