Also, I dont need 654 channels, I want a package of like 5 channels of my choice, and thats it.
So even after I change to this Student Internet deal, I can still get $10/24months for phone?
Have about a year left in our 2 year Value Plan agreement for Internet and TV. Cancellation is $20/month, calculated it out and we would end up saving money in the long run if I cancelled the service and set up a new student account. Would that mean we need to return all the equipment and have new equipment sent out or is it possible for them to use the same modem/gateway/portals that we already have.
Thanks
A thumb for you both, much obliged!
Last year, a neighbour went through a lot of the grief that many of you are going through now. Went to a Shaw store to sign up his daughter for the student deal, but the store people were dicks and said it couldn't be done. So he instead asked to switch names on the account from his to his daughter's (the student) and was hassled about it, but eventually did it. However, the rep even said they were going to put a note on the file to make sure this account wouldn't be eligible for the student deal!
Later he did an online chat and the rep there was apologetic and got it all sorted out, but what a pain.
He said if didn't already own a bunch of Shaw cable boxes he would have bolted to Telus immediately but didn't want to have to buy/rent new boxes for Optik TV.
And he said this time they had to drop the Premier TV package they added on last year and HAD to do the Medium TV plan and add on packages from there for more $$.
Ugh.
To answer your question about the cable, just don't select anything for TV and only your internet will be changed.
I've done mine for 2 years straight and helped 4 others with it. 100% success rate.
Good luck!
Recently, I spoke to online chat, and they said I just needed to go in store with my student ID to verify... so I went into my local store to sort out this student plan deal, I'm the college student but I live with my parents, so my Dad's name is on the account.... They wouldn't even talk to me, or ask me security questions (Which I know all the answers too anyway), wouldn't believe me when I'd show them the monthly bills. In any case, I understand I need to be named in order to make changes, but thats not the point... The rep looked me in my eyes and said the offer was for Students living on their own, and that it was in their promotional content *Which if it is, I couldn't find it anywhere, and when I asked her to show me, she couldn't.* So my only local store was no help. I then called Shaw CSR, and she repeated the same thing, but when asked to produce a copy of where it said that, all they could offer was "It's somewhere in our ToS", In both cases.... I've yet to find those clauses... So my next question is:
My Dad already has internet/phone/cable under shaw, but I've never technically been a customer... so is it possible to just go through the online form without changing our cable or phone? As our cable is the Digital classic, a Legacy package no longer available, and I don't believe current cable packages quite capture everything included in it at its price... OR would it be a better idea to just cancel our internet under his name and just open an account under my name then just pay for it like that?
Any input is appreciated!
Crazy expensive it was a $7 increase.
