get this deal

Stay in touch with friends and family from coast-to-coast with Freedom Mobile, because you can get an Unlimited Talk and Text plan for just $99.00 per year, which equates to just $8.25 per month!

You can also get the same plan on a month-to-month term, but the monthly cost is $14.00, which adds up to $168.00 over 12 months.

No contract is required and this plan includes unlimited Canada-wide calling and global text messaging (including picture and video), but it does not include any data -- a 1GB data pass add-on can be paired with the plan for $15.00 per month.

To get started, chat with a customer service agent online or by telephone (1-877-946-3184) to purchase and activate a Freedom Mobile SIM card. Plans can also be activated in Freedom Mobile stores, but note that locations may have reduced hours or will only provide emergency support for customers.

This deal is available in all regions in Canada with Freedom Mobile coverage for a limited time.

    • Wow. Now can I move a post paid plan to this plan is the question. I have a line my parents use as a home phone since it was cheaper than anyone else so don’t need data, so this will be perfect and saves about $90 a year

    • Sorry, I’ve been away from all the Freedom chatter for awhile.

If you’re outside their network, what happens? Do you pay per minute, per x data, etc? Or is there a package you can purchase for x amount of minutes and x amount of data?

      Thanks in advanced!

/Doh! Just realized this doesn’t include data.

You'll be on an incumbent network when outside of Freedom coverage.

What does this mean in terms of service or extra cost?

    • Great price is normally $24, then on sale for $14 but pay yearly and its $99/year

The nationwide roaming is confusing/mixed messages

      One message says

When you travel outside of our ‘Freedom’ network in Canada, you’ll be connected to a partner’s network. Your phone will display ‘Nationwide’ when in this area and may also indicate that it’s roaming. You’ll have access to the ‘Nationwide’ portion of your plan or pay-per-use rates may apply.

      Terms state
Big Gig Unlimited + Talk plans include unlimited incoming talk & outgoing Canada-wide talk from the Freedom or Nationwide networks to Canadian phone numbers only.

    • So this plan cost $9.32 tax included a month for unlimited calling texting...Seems like an excellent price

I have back up phones that I use in the GTA area..This might work out better

    • Some additional info;

A one-time connection fee ($10 for Prepaid) will apply for each new line activation in-store.

Also, remember to read up on the terms and conditions.

    • Lots of misinformation in this thread. Freedom prepaid plans have nationwide coverage.

This plan has nationwide coverage included. Unlimited talk/text anywhere in Canada.

      No data included. Ppu $15/GB

I wish they do another plan around $199/yr, with 2GB data/month

    • Is there a way to force a IPhone to connect exclusively to 2G services only? If so, I’ll sign up an elderly and make it exclusively roam on Rogers.

    • I'd sign up for Freedom plans in a second. It's too bad their Canada wide coverage is weak that always stops me. 😐

    • They just charged me $66 for the year, tax included

Others have reported (in other post) that within the Home Zone, Freedom defaults to their own network and you may not be able to connect to another providers network.

Is that when they legit don’t have coverage or they force to use a specific carrier?

    • I was able to get my mother unlimited talk & text 2gb ($35) Koodo. I think I'd prefer the larger network for a gig less and 6 dollars more. Nice post though! Good deal for people that don't need data.

    • Because their coverage area is smaller than the other providers, I have a question: What if your home number is Toronto, you travel by car to other prov/cities. Incoming calls on the road (any scenarios: maybe 30 minutes outside city limits, maybe in another province) will they cost a lot ? And if I make outgoing calls (to "home city" numbers, or to "current-positioned city" numbers), will cost too ? Free Can-wide long-distance but not really "can-wide long-distance" ? Sorry for not being aware yet.
