    • This and Public Mobile prov/text/4GB for $38/mo. We are in golden age of cell phone plans at the moment.

Go to Fido branded stores for best free SIM chance. I picked up two lines and two locations in Calgary gave me free SIM. Costco wanted $10.

Not much reason to go with Wind right now.

I picked up two lines on this promo last month.

Not much reason to go with Wind right now. I'm wondering if incumbents are trying to dampen their LTE launch.
it's pathetic consumers think 4gb of data is so good. data should be unlimited. props to these companies for making consumers think they're getting a deal when they're actually being ripped off.

    • 2 months in and this is still the best cell deal out there for light talk users, Fongo has been super reliable. I highly suggest people jumping on this deal for Public though just to try it. I did the math in the other thread and it works out to $20 to try it for 3 months, that's almost nothing.

      Rationale behind the math
      $15 per month x 3= 45
      -$25 referral credit
Total of $20 for 3 months.

Edit: Don't forget to pick up iTunes gift cards at 20% off from Costco to reduce the cost of your Fongo text plan by 20%. (Costco has iTunes credit $100 for $80).

    • It's basically down to comfort level. I'm okay with this plan but for those who are hesitant or not as technically apt, I would recommend public mobile plan @ $38/mo.

Owning chromecast, I'm getting enough free credits to use towards fongo text package.

    • I got this for my son. He uses Fongo for phone and text. He's pretty happy, and I'm happy I only pay $15 a month for it. Win Win.

    • My rep told me the referral credit is applied after 90 days, is this standard for everyone?

    • Any idea when this expires? I am waiting out the end of my phone contract in January.

    • sounds like a pretty good deal? When would it go into effect if you already have a plan? right away? or next billing cycle?

TextNow is good, too -- texting is free and they have a webui so you can text+call from any computer.

    • 0.5MB/ min aprox on low bandwidth codec
      1MB/min on regular codec

      I use regular codec

I've been trying fongo + textnow but textnow advertising is getting a bit intrusive even with adaway. Now they are keep telling me Halloween special and I've deleted that message several times.

I've also been using TextNow for the past month or so with this Fido plan. It's been pretty good with a little outtage one day. I'm on Android and set it up to send e-mails to my gmail when there is a text as i seem to get alerted to the message faster than the app.

    • Anyone know if you can combine this offer with a prepaid text and talk ?

    • So here is what i am thinking...

First of all say FU to rogers.

second, get a publicmobile 12 gb 90 days 40$ plan
Then get this fido $15/month 3 gb plan and use it when i run out of 12 gb in 90 days.

however, can i just pay when i need the 3 GBs? or would i have to pay every month considering i'd have 12 GB already for 90 days from public Mobile?

I think everyone with dual sim should do that. Even if i have to pay 15$ for this every month without breaks, its still 40+15+tax, cheaper than rogers CORP350 plan for 6GB $59. Rogers, kindly refer to the second line of this post.
