The best chicken sandwich is getting even better at Popeyes, where their new Deluxe Chicken Sandwich is now available in Canada.

Originally launched on April 4, the Popeyes Deluxe Chicken Sandwich is a new variant of the iconic Classic Chicken Sandwich, but adds fresh lettuce and tomato to make it deluxe. The sandwich is otherwise identical, with an oversized buttermilk-coated white meat chicken fillet, barrel-cured pickles, mild or spicy mayonnaise, all served on a buttery brioche bun.

In Canada, a standalone Popeyes Deluxe Chicken Sandwich is priced at $7.49 (pricing may vary by region) and can be ordered in-restaurant, online or through your favourite food delivery apps.

Posted September 2020: The Popeyes Chicken Sandwich is Now Available in Canada

Get ready to taste the hype at Popeyes, because the highly-anticipated Popeyes Chicken Sandwich is now available in Canada!

Originally launched in the United States in August 2019, the Popeyes Chicken Sandwich received an enormous amount of attention last year, being hailed as "the iPhone of chicken sandwiches" and sparking the Great Chicken Sandwich War of 2019 between Popeyes, Chick-fil-A, KFC and McDonald's.

In February, Popeyes confirmed that they had plans to bring the sandwich to Canada and had a soft-launch in Edmonton this past June, but Canadians from coast-to-coast can try the famous sandwich starting Monday, September 14.

The Popeyes Chicken Sandwich is made with a buttermilk-coated white meat chicken fillet, barrel-cured pickles, mild or spicy mayonnaise, all served on a buttery brioche bun. For reference, a standalone sandwich starts at $5.99 (pricing may vary by region) and can also be ordered in a combo.

My 5pcs consisted of, on regular size thigh, two one bite size drumsticks and a wing. One mysterious piece with no meat, just rib bone covered in batter.
Do they have smaller pieces set aside for this deal only? It's been a while since I ate here, i don't remember being this small.
I dont know what regular price is for 5pcs but I'd be pissed if I paid more than $8.99 for this.
      Not even worth $8.99
It might be location dependant. When I got it, I got 5 regular sized pieces. 2 drums, 1 thigh, 1 breast, 1 wing.

    • Anyone find their chicken is under cooked? Wings and drumsticks are always good... Breast is sometimes undercooked.. but I always find blood in the thighs.... About a year ago it looks like they added more batter but didn't change the cooking temperature or extend the time.
Reddish colour in the chicken doesn’t mean the chicken is raw. It’s mostly likely just pigment being released from the bone as it’s being heated.
Overcooking chicken, especially white meat, is a sin.

    • Does anybody else's Popeyes fried chicken smell fishy? My two local chains always do. I wonder if it's because they cook the chicken and the fish items in the same batch of oil. Probably dependent on the location.
Probably. Oil ain't cheap to be change out every day. I remember KFC changing their oil 2x a week max.

    • Why is no one talking about kfc's 11$-5off 8pc tenders?
KFC is garbage...they even cut their chicken in smaller pieces since they know you might choke on it. No thanks.

    • Promo just starter and it would be its own thread. Also some (or a lot) prefer Mary brown or Popeyes over kfc.
Only if KFC was halal - it would be my #1

    • Does anyone else have trouble with their CC payment methods when trying to do a mobile order? Site keeps claiming my payment method is invalid.
      Same problem here
I had this problem and I fixed it by calling Popeyes, apparently my created account was a USA account so the CC method won't work. They had to close my account (took approx 10 business days) and then I opened a new account through the Popeyes app and it works now.

    • Probably just poor mgmt practices. If it is, the oil might be dirty, and fish would certainly contribute to that kind of flavour.

    • So I ordered this again, and I asked about why it came with one breast where it should be all dark meat since the first time I ordered it, I was not happy with the breast piece (though it was not that dry).

If anyone wants to make sure they are getting dark meat only as advertised, they told me that they don't see white or dark meat on the order when it comes from the app, so you can just ask for it in person as I did in my second time.

    • got food poisoning from Popeyes
Sure its not heart burn or upset stomach from the salt & spices?

Or did you wash your hands before you eat? Not saying your disgusting. Just most people actually don’t wash their hands before eating. Technically low chance of getting sick even without washing hands. But it does increase the chances.

    • Not sure if there is an expiry date, but can confirm the coupon does show up again the following week (limited to one order per week and that's probably for the best, lol).
This is good to know (that it can only be used once a week). I thought the deal had ended, just checked and the offer is back on my app. Thank you.

    • Depends on location. One at dufferin was terrible, the size of chicken peice was one third of normal popeyes.
That location used to be good before the Toronto expansion in recent years. After the expansion, I tried the MB for the first time at York Mill location. It was really bad, dried and tasteless so I went back to Dufferin and same thing happened again, dried and small pieces. Didn't bother to eat at MB until recently. Had good experience at a Kingston Ontario MB.

    • I love popeyes but I just ordered this and I always somehow end up getting white meat with my dark meat. I hate white meat! I always have to specify dark meat even though I know it's supposed to be dark meat only. One time the lady goes, "Yes sir it's dark meat only". I didn't specify today and guess who got white meat again? I'm going to specify it every single time.
I think the lady is specifying who she'll sleep with.

    • Both of them are not very spicy (I ordered spicy for both) but I can taste the smell of frozen meat from Popeyes.
Wow. Different locations must spicy them differently.

I love Spicy as I grow up eating it all the time.
With Popeyes half the time I wonder if I got the spicy or not when I order it.
With Mary brown's at my location the spicy is heavy and stays with you for awhile.
I sometimes wonder how Non-ethnic people can stand it. LOL.
