Posted April 19: Waffle Fries Are Back in Canada

Fries and shine with a trip to McDonald's, where Waffle Fries are back in Canada for a limited time.

Waffle Fries are a round, waffle-textured variant of McDonald's World Famous Fries that were originally introduced in 2016 for McDonald's Canadian holiday menu. Six years later, Waffle Fries are officially back on the menu, after @McDonaldsCanada on Twitter teased, then confirmed their return for 2022.

For reference, a medium-sized serving of Waffle Fries is priced at $3.79 in Toronto (pricing may vary by region) and can be ordered on its own or as part of a combo.

Posted April 18: Get a Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish or McChicken for $4.99

Enjoy a trio of fan favourites for less at McDonald's, where you can get a Big Mac, Filet-O-Fish or McChicken for $4.99 each for a limited time.

  • Big Mac – two beef patties, special sauce, crisp lettuce, processed cheddar cheese, pickles and onions on a toasted sesame seed bun
  • Filet-O-Fish – pure temptation on a lightly steamed bun, topped with processed cheddar cheese and tangy tartar sauce
  • McChicken – breaded seasoned chicken and crisp lettuce, topped with mayo-style sauce

No coupon or promo code is required – simply order in-restaurant or use the McDonald's Canada app and the $4.99 price will apply automatically.

NOTE: you can score a slightly better deal for the Big Mac or McChicken if digital coupons are still available in your region, as there is a recurring in-app offer to get either sandwich for $3.49. Otherwise, the $4.99 price is still below regular price, as all three sandwiches are regularly $7.69 in Toronto (pricing may vary by region).

This offer is effective for a limited time at participating McDonald's locations in Canada – click here to find the restaurant nearest you.

It's been a while since I worked in fast food. But I recall the margin for profit on soft drinks was insane. The bib of syrup for the carbonated dispenser was dirt cheap and yielded an insane amount of drinks. We could likely have wasted huge amounts of soda and still profited. So I would be surprised if McDonald's said they couldn't run the promo again for $1.

When I was young and worked at Burger King, I helped out doing the weekly stock ordering. One box/bag of Coke syrup was about $32 in the year 2000.

They way our society is headed i could total see them saying "We only made 9 BIL in profit last year, our investors and stock holders are only worried about endless growth, so in order to make an additional Billion profit this year we have eliminated dollar drink days." Sad but true, all these business "Cutting Cost" are making record profit lol.

How many drinks does a box cover?

    • Do you have the barcodes/code from the AB mailer coupons?

If so, if you can post some photos of the mailer coupons, that will be great, then I can put it in a spreadsheet, for easy scan and access for everyone.

The codes in this spreadsheet was from the last round in 2022 March. I would like to update it for this current round.
      https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/ ... h5/pubhtml#

McD appears to no longer place mailer coupons on its website as in previous years.

Thanks for the hard work. We can put the link in thread summary for easy access.

That wouldn't surprise me either but there is the Flip Side/Catch 22. When a person comes into the restaurant or goes through drive-thru to order a $1 drink, there is also a chance to upsell them. You already have them on your property due to the $1 drink promo, so why not try? If it weren't for the $1 drink, they probably wouldn't be there at all, right? Sure the $1 drink promo is a potential loss leader (it's not) but you make up for it by also potentially selling them a Big Mac and Fries which thus gives stockholders more profits. Let's also not forget Coca-Cola here either. The more units that McD's sells/moves, the more frequently Coca-Cola has to deliver product to McD's to keep them in stock. More units sold/moved = more money for Coca-Cola too, so they would be all for the $1 promo

It's the same thing with the coupons. I have noticed that McD's is being more and more frequent with their coupons. Years ago, it seemed they did a coupon once or twice a year, now it is every couple of months. So obviously they are drawing a lot more ppl in with their coupons. I know that I go to McD's a lot more frequently when the coupon promo is on vs paying regular price. So it would be surprising if they stopped it with all the increased traffic they get during the promo periods

Regardless, they should work for AB starting in May 12 through Jun 05.

If any issues, feel free to comment and post it here at this thread, and then we can make changes accordingly.

If anyone knows of mailer coupons from other provinces/territories, feel free to post it here and I will update the spreadsheet accordingly.

      https://www.webstaurantstore.com/guide/ ... syrup.html

There's a chart on this webpage. Depends on the size of the drinks (obviously). Syrup is mixed in a 5:1 ratio with carbonated water. There are 5 galons (18.92705 Liters) of syrup per box. You get 113.5623 Litres of soda per box. There are .621044 litres in a medium drink (some of that is likely filled with ice or empty space though). You're looking at 182.85 drinks plus the volume of air and ice.
