    • My neighbor said Mary Brown's is his new GF.
He also said that the chicken flavor reminds him of Brownies Chicken - GVA chicken franchise from ages ago.

    • I'm there right now. No line up.
LOL Same when I went there earlier.
I ordered 3 specials and while I waited it started getting busy.

    • Uh for some reason my mobile order from yesterday got refunded but I did pick up the chicken. So I guess chicken ended up being free. Good deal

    • Grandone? Man the pieces were good size.

I think my friend asked what happened and basically they were losing money and needed to make changes.
I posted that deal and they got slammed by RFDers IIRC.

Grandone did have good sized pieces. They're still around so I think they're doing OK all things considered.

    • How far are the two inbetween? Hope no one is driving out of the way to get this lol
From Markham to duff and steeles to save $3 on chicken? What do you think that ran you in gas?
Well I can only assume they were on the way home from work and live closer to that second location. Otherwise that makes no sense, because they opened a location in Richmond Hill not too long ago that is considerably closer...
It ran me $0 because it was on my way back home from work. Also, for those that forgot to go I think they are running the same promotion July 12-14th there were signs out front for it.

    • How is this a great deal? I got the same "deal" for $6.xx by just ordering through the drive through window. The employees had no idea what I was talking about.
Reg price is $8.79 + tax. Yesterday you did not have to mention any deal, just say you want 2 pc w taters and its supposed to autonatically ring up as $4.99 + tax on their POS. It doesnt matter if the employee knew of the deal or not, the POS knows. Its weird they charged you extra for no reason

    • Prefer MB to Popeyes or Jolliebee. MB is fresh, juicy and less salty. Church’s is the best if it’s fresh! Idk why people complain that Mb chicken is bland you guys must use buckets of salt at home. Their taters are too salty gotta chug tons of water every time eating it.

Nearest fam place has 2.5 thighs 1.5 drums 1$ pizza they're still making money despite having a 711 which now closed down, a chicken delight across the street
      Always competing

    • what happened to that small fried chicken joint operated by a family from first year of pandemic? Nobody talks about that one anymore. Gradually the chicken pieces got smaller and smaller heh heh

    • Thanks OP. Along with the Lick-A-Chick, Mary Browns brings back memories of trips to the rock. Glad to see they they didn't stay there.

    • I was thoroughly impressed with my meal. I tried the spicy. went to the Erin mills locations at 845 pm. Busy. Told me it was a 20 min wait on chicken. But, got the food in 5 min.

I got a drummette connected to the wingette piece and a huge piece of breast meat. Didn't expect that. I would have preferred the dark meat, but oh well.

Spicy had a bit of a lingering kick, was very good. The chicken wasn't dry. Moist and juicy. Taters was well made too. crispy, seasoned coating.

I wish this was a weekly deal or something like Popeyes, I'd get this almost everytime if they did.

    • How many fried chicken places has RFD destroyed when they have a special? Or would these places be getting wrecked without the deal being posted here?

      Remember the KFC cyber mondays?

Will have the non-spicy for lunch tomorrow

    • I went to the Markham location initially and they were quoting an hour and 30 minute wait until food.. I don't know what system they have but there were 3-4 cashiers waiting at the food window at a time with no food coming out. I ended up driving to the Dufferin & Steeles location and was in and out in 2 minutes. Much more efficient.

    • Went to the pickering location on Brock Road. Wow. Absolute disaster. I ordered at 6:30 and went to Timmy's near by. Came in at 7:00 and waited another 10 min. They were getting ordered but zero food was coming out. They were prioritizing skip and uber orders. One guy waited an hour and 30 min but he had kids so he remained there and spoke for the manager.

They told me it'd be another 20 min but I didn't believe them. Asked them for a refund and bounced.

4 other people followed what I did bc there were about 20-30 tickets on the counter plus literally a rolled up bunch at the counter. I'm sure mine was in there somewhere.

    • Prices have gone insane. I just got a 2 piece strips off the kids menu at lee’s chicken, $9.99 plus they charged me $1 for a second dip. They give you a regular Fountain drink or a small kids juice box. Of course I’m not going to give my kid pop, so I went with the Apple juice box. No way this should be $11. Their lunch combos have also gone up, they were $7 pre pandemic and now $10.50.
      It’s more than just pandemic/Covid.

Record inflation is actually due to a combination of Covid 19, russia/Ukraine war, minimum wage increase/supply shortage increases/electricity cost increase (basically all expenses are higher). I mean just take a look at staple foods like milk, egg, rice, flour, etc. Their prices all increased a decent amount in the last half year.

    • Joibee also sprinkles on hot seasoning .... After it comes out of the fryer. I don't like it that way.

Popeyes puts hot sauce in the marinade which is the best.
Hmm Jollibee didn't seem that way. I mean, the Mary Brown's I had, there was like red patches. If Jollibee does the same, maybe they have it with the batter or do a better job mixing it in.

But Jollibee skin is much crispier.

    • After careful consideration, I think popeyes for me, might be equal with MB.
I went right when MB opened today and thought I would get super fresh chicken, it was kind of dry to be honest, and the spice seasoning they used was not uniform at all, the back of the thigh had so much spice, and the front had barely any. The drum stick was tiny as hell, I feel like popeyes has larger sized chicken. Don't get me wrong it's still good, but it's on par with popeyes for me. Maybe it's just the restaurant who knows..
I think they brought in smaller chickens for this promo. I’ve had Mary browns a bunch before and pieces were much larger than what they served today. Todays smaller ones are still much larger than kfc though. Before the piece I find are just a bit bigger than Popeyes in my city.

For me It’s a draw between them and Popeyes. I go with whoever has the best promo at the time.

    • It wouldn't let me order thru the app so I went to the store, no line up. Nice change that they asked how many I wanted instead of the one only spiel. Saltier than the Monday's sandwich. The original came with what may be a wing. Much smaller than what I got with the spicy.

    • I just gave it a try and it's not bad.

One drumstick and one breast. It was actually real white meat chicken underneath and not as breaded skin like Popeye's or KFC. The spicy part was just hot enough but not overly hot. For $4.99 with the amount of taters, it was 8/10. Doesn't feel as greasy and upset stomach compared to when eating KFC.

    • My closest location on ellesemere is so busy they have stopped accepting mobile orders lol.
The one at Midland? God knows what system they were running... Waited an hour in line to pick up my mobile order... If you say something then they will scramble to look for your print order in a pile. Everyone kept their cool which was good.

    • Brought my parents there with me and got one special for each of us. It took about 15-20 ish minutes to get our order.

The chicken and taters were so salty, it was difficult to get through the whole thing. Not sure if this is Mary Browns thing or a location thing. This was at Mississauga Dixie Eglinton.
