View allAs for which is better/tastier in my opinion, a rotisserie chicken should be eaten no more then 20 minutes after it comes out of the oven, any more then that and it tends to get dry.
Just last week I passed by a Portuguese chicken place (Casa Verdi on the corner of Keele and Wilson) that I hadn't been in awhile, chickens were no more then 800grams and didn't have any taste. They've been there for awhile and are very busy, I guess people's taste(s) are different or many of those people have never cooked a chicken at their home and don't know how one should taste.
But
The home style gravy is amazing
food for thought: 35-gram chicks -->> 2.35-kilogram market-size chickens in just 39 days
I don't think they use phosphates because of how dry their chicken is.
If they did, it wouldn't be dry. But it'd also taste like phosphates.
Also I think chicken in Canada isn't allowed to have antibiotics or steroids.
I don't think I ever remember once where they had not dry chicken.
*snicker* because of this next comment:
But be sure to read the fine print because I can't remember if you can use it for take-out AND on a family pak. May be only for regular entree.
Anyone here work or know anyone that work/worked for loblaws before that can chime in?
I'm with the other user as well about the soggy fries. I did however try poutine for the first time about 1-2 months ago when we ordered a family pack a mbd thought why not get a poutine side to try and see what that was all about. Man was it salty. The chunks of cheeze combo did not work for me.
From my experience (and of others I know) every SC location is different; In service and especially in quality. I know of one location that had horrible quality reviews (personal first hand reviews) has since closed and there's not another SC for miles around. People just stayed away or drove further.
Time of day also affects the quality (dryness) of the bird and fries - both imho and experience.
Convenience really is what makes this SC deal attractive. You can buy a whole bbq bird elsewhere. But not always with sauce and FRESH CUT fries all ready to serve. You are paying extra for convenience. And imho, damn good fries!
I should have added this to the first post: "Great time to use your $10 Royale gift certificate".
I used my Royale GC last year when SC had a promo on 2 quarter dinners PLUS one app and a slice of pie. Less the $10 Royale GC and it was a great deal.
I've also bought the Ultimate Dining Card when it was on a great deal at Real Canadian Superstore. I can't recall if it was 15% or 20% back in PC Points but it was worth the purchase.
I stopped paying full price at Swiss Chalet (take-out or delivery) years ago. Like so many opine, it's no longer a great bargain as it used to be AT FULL PRICE. But when they have something on promotion AND you have a $10 GC or a gift card that was 20% off, Swiss Chalet is usually a good deal.
And I still like the taste.
Tastier? Subjective. I'm not sure what I want to be honest. a desert or phosphate brine. Neither are too appealing to me.
I have tried it, hence why I can't figure out why they're in business.
They're chickens (if you can call them chickens, see pigeon joke above) are hilariously small.
Plus they're so overcooked that it's laughable. I've cooked a chicken, chilled it, reheated it, chilled it again, and reheated it for a 3rd time that had more moisture than Swiss Chalet.
Costco I'm not a fan of because they use a phosphate brine.
It's juicy but artificially so. Plus I can taste the phosphates.
Good deal of you’re using a discounted Cara gift card.
The Costco one is tasty until it’s cold and ou realize how pumped full of grease it is.
If you try to make it apples to apples as best as you can, that is buying the sauce, fries and rolls with Costco, you will probably get to 15-16 bucks compared to the 25.00. The difference is less at that point, but there.
And me saying this does not diss domino's and others, I frequently order domino's because I love their pan pizzas.
You get what you pay for in this world.
Even at $29.99 it’s already discounted so $25 is truly a great deal!
Those who have not had it, try it instead of doing an armchair comparison to Costco and other deli places.
Otherwise you are like dissing deals from Boston Pizza, Papa John’s, Domino’s, Pizza Pizza and favouring the cheapest pizza inside the grocery store (Delisio or Kraft).
