    • I got my Sonos Arc delivered last week. Used it for couple days but I'll sticking to my Bose SoundTouch 300 with surrounds for now. Planning to return the Sonos Arc but in case someone wants it at cost in Mississauga, let me know.

    • Sound depends on following factors.

Make sure you are using eARC hdmi connection on your TV.

Change Audio setting on your TV to enable eARC (I had to on my LG C1) and also to "bypass" and not set to "auto".

If you are using streaming devices like PS5 you need to change audio setting for the device to "Dolby Digital" and not set to linear/pcm etc.

if you have a sub Arc will sound better than being a standalone since it can output more mid-high sounds with sub doing the heavy work with lows

Trueplay does wonders to calibrating the speakers to your sitting position and space where they are at (Only available on iOS devices)

Coming from a Playbar I am happy with the upgrade. The difference that more modern surround formats like Dolby digital 5.1, PCM multichannel 7.1 etc makes is more significant than the "Dolby Atmos" that the Arc is heavily marketed for. (Dolby Atmos effect is more prominent with 4k Blurays not as much with streaming services like Netflix)

Search Peter Pee on youtube and apply his recommended setting for the Arc. It sounds noticeably better than out of box & plug in and play
I have an old 70 inch sharp aquos tv. It has arc so it will be interesting how it sounds

    • Their shipping is abysmal. Ordered November 24th. Finally shipped Dec 11th (despite saying in-stock), said it would be delivered Thursday. Shipping info hasn’t updated since “label created”. Brutal.
I’m pretty disappointed with their shipping also.

Ordered on December 1st, I called them once on December 10th asking for an update and was told I’d get an answer within 48hrs. Nothing. Called again today on the 16th and was told I would get an answer by end of the day.

      It’s 11pm, and I got nothing.

This is amateur hour. They’re lucky they have good products.

Anyone else in the same situation with no tracking number?

+1 to both using True Play and watching Peter Pee on YouTube. Both of which made my Arc + Sub + Surrounds experience better.

    • Yup. Everything done here. I did tuning the correct way even before knowing who Peter Pee is. I disagree on the bass setting. At 0 I couldn't hear much. Even +4 is minor. I just don't see the price tag justifying the quality of sound. That's not to say others won't enjoy the sound but it's not the product for me. It was worth a try! The build quality and the app is excellent.
Also if you are using a different device for contents like ps5 you need to change audio setting in the console too.

I have only experienced arc with sub and fives connected to it so my experience has been amazing. I do think Sonos soundbars definitely need sub to shine.

Standalone soundbar would be better with Bose 700 or 900.

Also surround sound experience with Sonos is honestly mind blowing coming from a dedicated 5.1 channel system before at comparable price ($2.5k)

    • Do you have your Arc connected to an eARC and your tv audio setting set correctly to take advantage of what Arc has to offer?

Dont forget to update firmware and run peter pee’s setting for the Arc it sounds much better than out of box and plug in and play.

    • Got the Arc today. I'm underwhelmed by the sound quality even after tuning. Compared to the $200 Bose soundbar I had before, I don't think the sound improvement is worth an extra $400+. The only time I find the Arc to be decent is at excessively high volume.

    • Oh interesting. I wonder why that is. I’ve heard the sub makes it a lot better. And so does rears
I'm sure it does but with the whole Sonos set I'd be looking at spending minimum $1600. I'd rather go with a traditional 5.1 home theatre system.

I'm coming from no soundbar and I can agree with that last part. I also bought the Sub and Ones which I haven't set up yet but will be doing so and testing out if its really worth it. Wondering if I should just get the Samsung 990b at its cheaper price instead

    • Got my Arc SL delivered this afternoon, and still having my Arc open box from BB. I opened it and give it a quick try, yes, it is almost the same as Arc. But during these days, my son enjoyed asking Google to play his favourite musics very much. It would be a big disappointment for him to switch to a mic less version.
I decided to keep the open box for the extra $140, I am listing the Arc SL for my cost in case anyone like to take the deal before I return it :)
Google home can be used to play music on the arc. You just need to connect them

    • My Arc SL was delivered yesterday via Canada Post. Ordered on Dec 1.

I set it up and compared with the playbase I bought a few years back. Was surprised that the playbase has a stronger bass. Does it mean that I need to add a sub or sub mini?
The playbase has a built in bass woofer that’s why. So if you like bass, a sub gen 3 or sub mini is definitely needed

    • definitely get the sub if you require more bass. ive been fine with mine set at +4 w/ loudness on but i use mine mostly for atmos content from netflix and disneyplus and the pair of rears and arc sound good - wife says i dont need a sub but i am too waiting for a sale on a sub. i cant justify $949 plus tax for one.
Wife says I don’t need rears or sub :(

    • I maxed out the bass (+10). Thanks will check out his video and redo the trueplay. I guess I will need to wait for the next refurb sale to get the sub then

    • Did you adjust the bass in the sonos app and turn on loudness? also, run the calibration/trueplay. Peter Pee recommends a sub as it free's up the arc for mids and highs and the dual woofer sub does a better job w/ the low end. He also has a video on how to run the trueplay, apparently you dont go to close to the arc when you are calibrating. I need to redo mine actually based on his recommendations.

    • Listened to it for couple of hours now and pretty good so far.

The only downside I guess was the setup process where it didn’t work the first time which required to me having call tech support and having the unit factory reset.

The other being the app wasn’t working properly and required multiple uninstalls / reinstalls plus having it closed and reopened in order to get a good amount of music services list in order to add say Spotify or Apple Music.

That’s the only gripe I have so far. I found it funny when the tech support guy asked if I’m running a firewall or AV on my phone in which it could be blocking the music services.

Granted, it still didn’t work after I disabled regional blocking on my UDM Pro, but that was only the red zone countries.

If this continues to wow me, which it is so far, I may purchase another one or two depending on the Boxing Day price for a new or refurbished unit from Sophos or an authorized dealer and have them setup in multiple rooms / zones.
