View allOrdered on December 1st, I called them once on December 10th asking for an update and was told I’d get an answer within 48hrs. Nothing. Called again today on the 16th and was told I would get an answer by end of the day.
It’s 11pm, and I got nothing.
This is amateur hour. They’re lucky they have good products.
Anyone else in the same situation with no tracking number?
Make sure you are using eARC hdmi connection on your TV.
Change Audio setting on your TV to enable eARC (I had to on my LG C1) and also to "bypass" and not set to "auto".
If you are using streaming devices like PS5 you need to change audio setting for the device to "Dolby Digital" and not set to linear/pcm etc.
if you have a sub Arc will sound better than being a standalone since it can output more mid-high sounds with sub doing the heavy work with lows
Trueplay does wonders to calibrating the speakers to your sitting position and space where they are at (Only available on iOS devices)
Coming from a Playbar I am happy with the upgrade. The difference that more modern surround formats like Dolby digital 5.1, PCM multichannel 7.1 etc makes is more significant than the "Dolby Atmos" that the Arc is heavily marketed for. (Dolby Atmos effect is more prominent with 4k Blurays not as much with streaming services like Netflix)
Search Peter Pee on youtube and apply his recommended setting for the Arc. It sounds noticeably better than out of box & plug in and play
I have only experienced arc with sub and fives connected to it so my experience has been amazing. I do think Sonos soundbars definitely need sub to shine.
Standalone soundbar would be better with Bose 700 or 900.
Also surround sound experience with Sonos is honestly mind blowing coming from a dedicated 5.1 channel system before at comparable price ($2.5k)
Dont forget to update firmware and run peter pee’s setting for the Arc it sounds much better than out of box and plug in and play.
UPS eta was dec 19.
UPS -> Canada Post for delivery.
Canada post eta is now dec 21.
I decided to keep the open box for the extra $140, I am listing the Arc SL for my cost in case anyone like to take the deal before I return it
Same eta of Dec 19th for an Arc ordered on Dec 1st.
So glad I got BB OB Arc to get me through while waiting.
edit: referring to a brand new white arc
Did you adjust the bass in the sonos app and turn on loudness? also, run the calibration/trueplay. Peter Pee recommends a sub as it free's up the arc for mids and highs and the dual woofer sub does a better job w/ the low end. He also has a video on how to run the trueplay, apparently you dont go to close to the arc when you are calibrating. I need to redo mine actually based on his recommendations.
I set it up and compared with the playbase I bought a few years back. Was surprised that the playbase has a stronger bass. Does it mean that I need to add a sub or sub mini?
White used arc on Amazon warehouse deals for $863 if anyone is interested!! Last one!
The only downside I guess was the setup process where it didn’t work the first time which required to me having call tech support and having the unit factory reset.
The other being the app wasn’t working properly and required multiple uninstalls / reinstalls plus having it closed and reopened in order to get a good amount of music services list in order to add say Spotify or Apple Music.
That’s the only gripe I have so far. I found it funny when the tech support guy asked if I’m running a firewall or AV on my phone in which it could be blocking the music services.
Granted, it still didn’t work after I disabled regional blocking on my UDM Pro, but that was only the red zone countries.
If this continues to wow me, which it is so far, I may purchase another one or two depending on the Boxing Day price for a new or refurbished unit from Sophos or an authorized dealer and have them setup in multiple rooms / zones.
