Add Alexa to your home with a new smart speaker from Amazon.ca, because you can get a second-generation Amazon Echo for $49.99 (regularly $129.99), for a total savings of $80.00!

Originally released in November 2017, $49.99 is a historical low the second-generation Echo, which was discontinued earlier this month after Amazon's announcement of a new third-generation Echo. However, the second-gen Echo is functionally identical as the new speaker.

Only the Sandstone colour is currently in stock, but all three colour options are also available at Best Buy for the same $49.99 price. Product features include:

  • Dual downward-firing speakers with a 2.5" woofer and 0.6" tweeter deliver crisp vocals and dynamic bass for 360-degree audio
  • Simply say "Alexa" and seven specially-engineered microphones hear and recognize you from across the room -- even while music's playing
  • Use Alexa to play music, make calls, set timers, ask questions, check your calendar, weather, traffic, sports scores, control smart home devices and more
  • Compatible with smart devices including lights, switches, TVs, thermostats and more from WeMo, Philips Hue, Sony, SmartThings, Insteon, Nest, ecobee and Wink
  • Stream music with services like Amazon Music, Pandora, Spotify, iHeartRadio and TuneIn
  • Add Alexa skills to order pizza from Domino's, request a ride from Uber, track your fitness with Fitbit and more

This offer is effective for limited time and all Echo speakers qualify for free shipping.

    • Keeping in mind the 3rd gen is about to come out and 99% chance will be $70 on black friday. Upgraded audio to the larger woofer and tweeter that the echo plus 2nd gen received.

    • How is the audio/sound on this compared to the Echo Dot? I find the Echo Dot to be muffled and filled with Static while playing music at a high volume.

    • Never seen it this low, at this price could get a stereo pair to really enhance the sound.

I have none of these in my house, at this price, might be time to try this.

    • I have tried these in a pair, was disappointed I think due to the all direction sound.....it sounded kind of out of phase. I have a set of sonos that dont have this issue, I think due to the front facing driver.

Someone earlier asked this vs dot - this is far better.

    • Bought it from Staples. Added a pencil eraser for $0.97 to get the order above $50.

My sonos is like $250, so yea, its better than this $50 speaker lol. But for $50 with alexa, its awesome. Alexa tech is pretty good and reliable.

    • Wasnt speaking to the price, no need to get defensive. It was more of a mention in regards to speaker orientation not sound quality.

    • Watch out guys, I posted this deal to my Facebook page to let others know, and someone said this

"Do yourself and the family a favor, and buy a cheap stereo instead! Those things are data thieves big time. They will actually secretly integrate with and data mine other nearby devices like tv's, computers, printers, game consoles and any other device that's internet capable! Scary stuff!"

Which I replied like your smartphone and facebook? Really if you are really worried about that, you would have a clamshell phone with no internet and not be on facebook

The irony of talking about privacy and security on Facebook is almost as good as this whole Trump whistle blower case.
