View allObviously it's a problem for Bose if it works perfectly fine on one thing and nothing else.
It happens when paired to a pc as well and Bose is just using this as an excuse.
As much as I love these buds for music, I emailed them stating updated fw and all that and they gave me a copy and paste reply saying to make sure I update my fw.
The second bose Bluetooth speaker I have will be my last Bose purchase for sure. Especially after a customer service reply like that (to which I never got a response from)
You cannot compare airpod sound quality with bose
There are better options.
And the fit for me has been near perfect. No jiggling or threat of falling out during air travel or working out.
There is an Apt-X codec with Low Latency, but neither Apple or Bose are using it in their products.
Not being sound isolating has its advantage and that is you can leave them in your ear even when too lazy to take them off. You can be that guy talking to people with ear buds on.
But agreed on sound quality. Its superb as long as you dont mind looking like mushrooms growing out of your ears. These things are massive.
If you are someone who ONLY values sound quality, I would not think twice.
If you care about phone calls and seamless use, go with another pair (airpods or Jabra).
If you want the complete package, go with the Seinheiser (but thats 400 dollars)
...and these are big.
That being said, I think based on the above, I'll pass up on them.
OP - Thanks for posting this by the way.
I got a pair of (black) ones for Christmas. While I like them, I wish to warn fellow RFDers of the following:
1. These are NOT sound-isolating ear buds. They're meant to leak in noise because they're meant for, like, joggers or something (so they can hear road noises and cars and honks and stuff). That makes it really annoying to use on transit, because I have to keep adjusting the volume while trying to not damage my ears. (EDIT: I try to listen at a relatively low volume, but it's impossible to do so with these in a louder area. I think I go up to 7 on my iPhone when with other earbuds I'm on 3-4.)
2. The earbuds have a known issue where there is audio lag on all videos watched outside of Safari (so, for example, YouTube and Netflix). Bose has blamed it at least partially on the Bluetooth version, but even with multiple firmware updates this is still an issue (although it's a little better, it's still annoying). Interestingly, videos viewed on Safari don't have this issue. (EDIT: this may be iOS only.)
3. The left earbud does not directly connect to the phone and/or is tethered to the right earbud. This makes it prone to disconnects -- in some cases, permanently. I had mine die in two weeks, but Bose gave me a free pair pretty quickly once I returned the old one. However, on the Bose forums you'll see numerous people complain about this as well, with subsequent replacement models too.
4. For phone calls, only the right earbud will have audio (and take audio) for the call. The left one is pretty much useless in that regard.
That said, when in an ideal situation -- quiet room, no disruptions -- they sound quite nice? And for this price they're not bad, although I think Anker has a new model that's a bit cheaper than this sale price.
