    • Lowest ever was $25 at Staples. 28$ with a 10% off code that worked for everyone.

    • Got early gen for the same price 2 years ago and it's been cheaper, at this point with how inexpensive 4k TVs are and how common 4k content is, it is hard to recommend not getting the 4k stick.

Of course, there is always going to be the few that won't ever watch 4k in the next 10 years and is also desperate in saving the $20, but then this wouldn't be a "hot deal" for them either

    • Weak processor, not very future proof.

Better off with the 4K version even if not using it for 4K.

Can confirm. I have this version and i don't find it to be as responsive as i expected. i can see noticeable lag when watching the shows on the ctv app (may or may not be related to bad app design) but the 4K version should handle it with the more powerful processor.

+1 to this, my neighbor have the non 4k version and its very slow and unresponsive at times.
better go with the 4k version even if you will not use it for 4k.

    • I have this non 4k version and it's defective just after 1yr 6mths of use. Powers on the reboots itself. Happens non stop, virtually unusable.

    • The non-4k version has been working great for me, though I only use mine for ~5 hours a week. If I'm gonna spend $50 on something like this, it's gonna be on a raspberry pie. 99% of content on torrent sites is not 4k. I downloaded Blade Runner 2049 in 1080p and 4k, couldn't tell the difference on a 50" TV. I'm still not sold on 4k content/devices.

    • Well good thing for me is that Amazon offered me 25% off my next fire stick so that stacked with this makes this about $25 bucks. Thanks op, grabbed one.

The 4K version is also on sale, for $54.99.. It's not as good as the $44.99 on prime day, but still $15 off the regular price.

Rotflmao. Comparing a $250 media player to a $35 dollar one. What a contribution.

    • I had the regular Fire Stick… would recommend that interested peeps pay a bit extra and go for the 4K version, it just works better even if you don't have a 4K TV.

      Just a suggestion though....

      Happy Tuesday!

Also non-4k version is on older version OS, which makes it incompatible with the latest Android TV version of Hulu if you need that app.

4K TV doesn’t mean anything if you have a cheap TV with no or low quality HDR and bad contrast ratio. The device also plays a role in the streaming quality. A sub $100 stick will not perform as well as say, an Apple TV 4K. Another thing is the “4K” movie you downloaded might have just been upscaled 1080p (not a real 4K source) and severely compressed, that’s what you mostly find on torrents sites even if the title says 4K. Last I checked 4K blu rays are not easily ripped. There is 100% a significant difference between a HDR10/Dolby Vision 4K movie and a 1080p movie. But again all the components of you setup have to be high end to really see the difference and at the same time it depends on how picky you are.

Does Plex work properly on the 4k version? I get intermittent stuttering on my fire TV sticks which does not happen with Roku or Chromecast.

    • Correct me if I am wrong, but didn't Amazon just announce a new version of their 4k firestick due sometime in October, in addition to the new fire box tv.
