Here's some exciting news about Target's liquidation!

As we all know, the liquidation deals from the previous two weeks were rather mediocre and most of us left the stores feeling unsatisfied. However, Target Canada is giving us a reason to visit a store again as they have just announced today that they will be bumping the storewide discounts from up to 30% off everything to 20 - 40% off everything.

In fact, a member of our community, cinephile79 was kind enough to post an email containing more sale details in our Target Clearance forums. Here are some of the deals that you should expect to see in-stores:

20% off:
  • groceries, cleaning and laundry products
  • baby food, toys, disposable diapers
  • pet food
  • household paper products
30% off:
  • interior lighting
  • clocks, wall art, mirrors
  • area rugs, throws
  • school & office supplies
  • photo albums, frames
40% off:
  • music and movies
  • fashion jewellery, sunglasses
  • greeting cards
  • gift wrap
  • books and magazines

For more specific details on what's on sale, be sure to stop by our Target Clearance forums.

that's because they're run by morons - the business model is sound, they just get lazy and start buying anything that rolls in the door.

look at xscargo, the stores were popular at one time, with good items and lots of interesting electronics, games, etc., then one day it turned into a "junk outlet" filled with unsellable crap at stupid prices (bad deals by lazy xscargo buyers), so people stopped going there. other liquidators like factory direct still got their choice items. and it seemed that the head office guys at xs just didn't want to work anymore, and just let the stores go to seed.

Seriously ? Just because you couldn't get enough thanks for a not so valuable post, therefore you want to destroy the whole thread which contains 8 pages of discussion contributed by MANY OTHER PEOPLE ????

    • The good stuff are at 10 to 20% off and the stuff that nobody wants are at 40% off. Those are crappy deals and would be a waste of time and money to be shopping there.

Seriously, we got ourselves a thanks beggar. The thread may have 61 replies but I figure most of us watch the news or read the paper, so we don't necessarily need to praise OP for starting a thread stating the obvious. This is more of a discussion thread, not a hot deal thread. The OP did nothing other than to tell us that Target was liquidating stuff.

P.S. I don't usually care about the "Thanks", but come on guys, 61 replies and 3 thanks? Seriously? You're welcome :/
Seriously you are begging for Thanks? Target sent out an email to everyone on their email list advising the 20-49% off. You didn't uncover any special deals you know?

    • any signs of patio furniture out at any Ottawa locations yet? Kanata is closest...
Dunno about where you are but there is a big area out here in Thunder Bay full of wicker furniture, all weather pillows, barbecues, etc. was looking at a larger chair or love seat for my sun room but 20% off the $250 they want is not good enough. Soon, this stuff will be available from other retailers for less...

    • any deals on infant diapers and formula? Want to stock up for a newborn comming in the summer.
My tip is to actually go to Superstore and pay attention to prices there. Superstore tends to have the best (and frequent) sales for diapers. This doesn't apply to Newborn sized diapers. I would suggest not buying a large box of those until your baby is born. You really don't know how big your infant will be until they are born.
For the largest boxes of diapers, they frequently are on sale for a price between $29-$31 for a box of Pampers. I have never seen Walmart or Target ever have a price like that. Plus, if you are a PC Plus member, diapers some times appear on your (personally customized) weekly offers, so you get additional savings.

And I agree w/the advice others have already given about not stocking up just yet, and formula.

    • Thanks for the update. I was thinking about heading over after work today. I've had my eye on the Vitamix blenders but not at 10% or even 20% off. If they are still around at 30%-40% off, I'll consider biting the bullet and get one if they are still around.

Hopefully some game deals still to be had. I was there the first day all this happened and didn't want to wait in line to buy a single game. So dumped it back. It's most likely long gone by now but hopefully some better deals with the games. (Some games were still more expensive at Target with the clearance discount than they were at other stores at regular prices!)

    • Be careful about stocking up on formula and diapers. You might end not using more than the 20% you save. Babies change sizes at irregular intervals and some babies need to switch formula brands because of allergies intolerances etc.
Good advice. Went through that 1 1/2 years ago. You can sign up to the different formula manufacturers to receive free samples of their products like Enfamil, Nestle Good Start, Similac, etc though Enfamil tends to be a bit lean on the offerings. My son couldn't stomach Similac and did well on Enfamil, but it's very expensive. After a few months, Enfamil wasn't sitting well with him and we switched to the Kirkland brand, and he did really well on it, plus it's a lot cheaper than Enfamil!

And yes to the diapers. We started with size N and actually had to go to premature diapers for a couple weeks until he filled out. You will also go through size N-2 quickly compared to the larger sizes. Size 3-4 lasts a long time.

Also, don't necessarily stock up on one brand, if you decide to still stock up because not all diapers fit the same. My son had constant blowouts and leaks with Huggies but not with Pampers.

    • Anyone notice the photography stuff?

Im gonna wander to Burlington North at lunch and take a gander.
Display cameras seem to be marked down about 40%, I bought a Canon SX 170 for $98. It was marked down from $144, not sure of the original price. No box but accessories were in a sealed bag.

And, if anyone is looking for stepladders, they're selling the ones they used in the store as fixtures. Not sure of the price yet.

    • I just went to Hillcrest Mall in Richmond Hill. Movies were decent... I wanted the newest season of The Simpsons but couldn't find it. Didn't buy anything else. This location still has their scanners running, which is helpful.

Most stuff is 20% off, lots of empty shelves. Wanted to pick up some snacks but didn't see anything good.

DougO, I was thinking more along the lines of the liquidators that handle the liquidating. Lots of stores out there, that are just about to go belly up.

    • Tornado F2, we should start a Liquidation company! Seems like it's a growing business and we are both way smarter than Alvarez and Co. :-). BTW They're a joke. My wife works at Target and the Liquidation guy at the store is a jerk. The guy holes up in an office and can't be bothered to lift a finger. Meanwhile the lowly Target employees are abused by customers and the idiot liquidators. It's a sinking ship. 3 - 5 co-workers are leaving weekly. I'll be surprised if they last till May. I don't remember Zellers being this bad in how they treated the employees.
