I know a lot of people here prefer mesh seats over leather, so this isn't for everyone.
Before opening the link please do not skip reading the first sentence or you’ll have the same reaction of “WTF is this?!”

How does it compare with the Markus chair?
The biggest differences for me when I was deciding between the two was the headrest and the armrests. I found them pretty much equal and went with the Markus when it was on sale during Black Friday.

Headrests: The one on the Markus is pretty flat, so your head doesn't stick out as much as it would on the JÄRVFJÄLLET. I feel that the headrest on the JÄRVFJÄLLET puts your head and neck in a more comfortable forward position.
Armrests: The ones on the Markus are more sturdy and felt better to use. If you like crossing your legs on your office chair, your knees may bump into the armrests on the Markus, whereas they'll be able to fit under the armrests on the JÄRVFJÄLLET.

The seat itself on the JÄRVFJÄLLET was smaller than the Markus from what I remember, but that wasn't a biggie for me. I can see that being a turn off for people though.

    • Just a heads up, IKEA does not warranty their fake leather stuff for any useful length of time. My chair (particularly the headrest) looked terrible a few years later, and I couldn't even buy replacement parts. I'm only going with cloth or mesh chairs going forward. Pretty good discount though.
This warranty covers defects in material and workmanship on the following parts of the work chair:
      • The structural frame
      • Moving parts
Moving parts are components with moving functions or adjustable functions. The warranty covers the intended function for the components of the castors, gas cylinder, mechanism, armrest and back rest adjustment mechanism.

The warranty does not apply on the cover and extra covers for office chairs are not part the product collection.

My thread title and links were only for the black leather.

Anyone know if they have the same prices in-store?

    • I only have one question: how do you pronounce JÄRVFJÄLLET? 😃
We're running into the same trap as with food - don't buy it unless you can pronounce the ingredients.

    • Just bought myself one and picked it up at Montreal location. If you're wondering, they moved it from their original location to aisle 78, right next to the cash registers.
