View allIs there a promo code along with selecting Masterpass in order to get the total down (-$20)?
Actually, since battery charging isn't 100% efficient, you are using MORE energy (by a minuscule amount) keeping it unplugged.
BTW, due to energy star type programs the standby power on all modern electronics is in the noise floor, the 'vampire power' problem was solved years ago.
My reluctance to keep it plugged in stems from the vampire power point of view. If not in use, then why plug it in? Has nothing to do with safety.
The Roomba maintains a WIFI connection at all times. This requires power. I'm not sure where you reluctance to keep a device plugged in comes from. Perhaps it's the legacy worry that batteries will overcharge?
ALL modern devices are 100% safe to be plugged in all the time. Lithium Ion batteries are mean beasts, if they overcharge they burst into flames. As a result EVERY device you buy that charges Lithium Ion batteries will stop charging when the battery is full.
If you want to leave your Roomba unplugged you'll have to remove the battery. No way around it.
I'm the type of person who doesn't like to have things unnecessarily plugged in if they don't need to. If I know I won't be using it for a while, I'll just unplug it.
However, not sure if it's just me, but my Roomba seems to have it's entire battery drained to 0% if I leave it unplugged for just over 3 days. Is this normal? I'm wondering if I have a defective battery.
It seems strange to me that in 2019 that a battery can't hold a charge. This surprises me since when I first unpacked the unit there was a 60% charge on it.
I contacted support and they said that this is normal, and that it needs to be plugged in 24/7 for optimal battery. However, I find it hard to believe that batteries in this day and age can just drain that fast.
I'm considering returning it to Costco for an exchange, however they don't carry this model anymore. The next closest one is the Roomba 665, however going by the version number, may be a step below what I have.
Is anyone else having the same battery issues?
I think Costco sold way more of these then they expected, plus because of the Canada Post strike garbage Costco had the following on their site:
Important Notice
Due to the unprecedented demand at UPS throughout Canada, the estimated delivery time may be longer than indicated. Thank you for your understanding.
It's a all different with my brother who got the treatment of noise around him when he slept as a kid.
Each person is different i assume.
Most of the noise that can possibly wake a baby is if it bumps into things. In my house at least, when it is running, I don't hear it at all under the floor it is cleaning unless it bumps a chair.
I think the real benefit of this, other than reducing the frequency of regular vacuuming which you still need to do, is it gets under couches, beds and dressers which I almost never bother with except a few times a year. First time I ran my robot, it was a few days after my normal vacuum and I was shocked how much crap was in the dust bin.
Another personal observation you can throw out the window if you want:
EVERYBODY thinks they are an expert when it comes to babies, and MUCH of that "wisdom" isn't based in fact, or evidence, but on 'feelings'.
I vividly remember TWO experts in the hospital (both pediatricians, one the night shit the other the day shift), when asked a rather simple question from brand new parents gave two answers that were COMPLETELY contrary to each other.
We observed the same thing a multitude of times, one nurse would say one thing, a feeding nurse would say another, and a GP would say a third thing, all contradictory.
Over the years we've learned two major things:
The result is both of our munchkins fell asleep when they were tired, we didn't have to find a quiet place, or stop doing what we were doing. They will sleep through a hurricane pretty much to this day.
No 2 people are the same, what we did might not work for you, but it's something to keep in mind.
Also, we would plan on using it a few times a week to reduce dust in between running the Dyson. Does this seem like a reasonable idea? Our relative has an older model Roomba and complained it wasn't powerful enough but I'm sure technology has improved since then, but not sure
TIA
Look, if it's not for you it's not for you, I don't see what your motivation here is? Move along.
It will probably need 3 times the run time to clean the same area, and you can’t be sure it covered it.
Not to mention wearing down it’s own battery and vacuum components, increasing maintenance costs.
I’d rather know where I’m vacuuming and not push stuff over all over the place
According to the carton count, Costco had ordered 600 of them.
CT USED to be the king of returns, when I was a kid I observed my dad 'taking advantage' of their policies a little too much at times (like this brand new hammer drill that he didn't need was still red hot from drilling through the 1.5ft wall in our apartment 20 minutes prior).
The result is that many CT stores have clamped down, some too far IMHO, to the point that people like you, and myself, actually avoid CT for any item I might want to return, it's just not worth the headache.
I think the N79 on sale at CT has this beat though.
I see this in alot of areas, the exact same product having slightly different model names/numbers. It creates a ton of consumer confusion, and makes it really hard to price compare.
"Thank you for reaching out, those models would use all of the same features and parts. The 677 would be retailer exclusive model."
