    • Not sure about a lot but one of my items was out of stock and my subtotal dropped to $194. I still got the full $40 discount (My Total = $194 + tax + tip - $40)
same here, and my shopper made some mistakes so instacart refunded me on 2 items, making my actual purchase was way less than $200

    • Overall the online prices are15-20% higher than in store, pretty much the same price after the discount but still totally worth it, for saving on gas and time

    • what happens if you spent exactly $200 but a lot of items are not in stock? do you lose your $40 discount?

I think the discount gets spread to all the items. I think it used to be a flat discount and you would get your full discount if something wasn’t in stocks

    • Thanks OP. Same price as in store is good enough for me on Christmas week. Ordered all the heavy stuff (drinks, bulk cleaning agents, etc.), that alone is worth it.

I signed up for a instacart+ trial from within the sameday site, but I guess I can't use that service from the regular instacart website. I didn't get a login for instacart or anything. Odd

Costco does not provide bags, my shoppers have always used the boxes Costco has at the checkouts

    • There are two things that could make this an actual sweet deal:

1- On Instacart (not sameday.costco.ca), you have the option to add your Costco membership number. This will reduce prices on all Costco items. It's not the same in-store price still, but the ~20% markup becomes more like ~10%.

2 If you have Instacart+, your service fee will also be reduced drastically. For a 15 item, $300 order, service fee went from $22 to $5.

With these two combined, you can get the items delivered at almost no extra cost.

    • Just came back from Costco. Such a gong show. Went at 11am and it was the usual Costco nightmare scenario - no parking, crowded inside, line up to pay went down midway to the centre of the store.

Use this $40 coupon and save yourself your time and mental anguish. I wish I did.

    • Couldn't really tell you exactly but at best guess I make around $20 an hour on average. $15/hour quiet days, $25/hour busy days. But it varies a lot. They have promotions where you get bonuses based on the number of deliveries you complete that help raise the average. I imagine this can vary a lot depending on your location also.
That actually seems half decent for a delivery type gig. That is if you don't mind putting up with Walmartians and Costconians.

    • Gosh this is so confusing! And these IC guys s**k bad.. Their agents have no idea of what they are talking about when I asked the return policy. Trying to buy an iPad here.. This is the final price that shows up. One says, return policy is 90 days, the other says 7 days and last one mentioned "you can't return the item". The price is with zero delivery fees currently (to which I will add later, if I am convinced to buy from them)

    • We can see if there is a tip in the app, so if someone decides not to tip that's up to them, but it will probably not get accepted for a while
instacart pay shopper $7 at minimum for a full service,
if you don't tip, basically no one will pick up your order, especially for bulky items in costco,
it is easy to find someone's no-tip grocery order sitting for an hour,
but actually instacart will group non-tipper with a generous tipper and throw a few bones to shopper to sweep away sticky order,
so when your no-tip order get delivered, please say thanks to your neighbors

    • I really doubt that. They wouldn't claim the oppposite on their website:

Tips are optional but a great way to show your shoppers appreciation and recognition for their excellent service. 100% of your tip goes directly to the shopper(s) shopping and delivering your order.

Hard to work out but a rough guess I'd say it averages to about $20 an hour after gas expenses. $25+ an hour on good days. $15/hour on quiet days

    • Yep, its per batch. Sometimes we can get batches added while we're shopping another batch also. We do get a base rate per delivery PLUS tips. The batch rate can be pretty poor though but it really varies a whole lot.

    • The more I read about their pay structure it seems they don’t get paid an hourly wage. Instacart considers them independent contractors and pays on a batch basis, for example, $10 for one batch. A batch, however, can be two or three shopping lists batched into one trip. (Same store etc.)
So it seems it’s mostly the tips they survive on.

I’m not sure if the pay structure per batch.

      (May be US based?)

      Any instacart shoppers on here?

    • Not really worth it if you can go to Costco... prices are way higher on the website than in-store, you pay a surcharge on each and everything you get.
If anything, that 40$ off will bring back to normal price on a $200 grocery.

If you don't already use this service, this offer is very clearly not for you. For those who do, it's a nice promo. No sense in debating the in-between if you'd rather just go to a store anyway.
