    • Slightly off topic - they also have vege meatballs with rice, steamed vegetables and spinach ragout for only $4.99 - couple that with free coffee or tea (family members only) - and you have a very good meal. Tip: substitute the rice, if you want, for medallions! They are great IMHO.

    • I was told free coffee is only available at the Ikea restaurant. Don't feel like sitting at the restaurant to finish the coffee so didn't bother.
Yep thats true. Its only at the restaurant, not the snack bar. At least that is their intention I believe.

    • Tried to Redeem at IKEA Montreal this weekend, the guy had no idea what I was talking about. Told me to grab a free brioche if I want instead 😂 .

Edit: I did scan my Family card but it did not apply any promotion to make the coffee free.
Good to know. Not valid in Quebec maybe?

    • That's what I used to do in Roller Coaster Tycoon. Free Drinks but charge to use the Washroom.
Genius... but please, don't apply for an Ikea store manager position

    • I am having trouble adding ikeas family card to my apple wallet. Any ideas? I'm new to iPhone so maybe doing something wrong.

I log onto the account and you can view your card but there is a linked button to add to apple wallet. It opens a new window but it's blank and nothing loads.

I just took a screenshot of the digital card but I'd like it in the actual apple wallet if possible

    • If you are not a coffee drinker, these Ikea branded specialty teas that they have in some stores now are really good. Premium teas with unique flavors, maybe three or four different types.

    • I actually like Ikea's coffee it tastes very nice.
I agree, I like their coffee. I also notice that some stores are introducing their own Ikea specialty tea's, aside from the other branded types that some Ikea's have.

    • The two BC locations (Richmond & Coquitlam) removed the IKEA Family kiosks a long time ago.
Went over the weekend, it's still not back yet.

That being said, if you had a card before. Or you can also load it up on your phone via it's website.

Anyone tried redeeming for free coffee?
Yep I had no trouble using the Family card for a coffee, a few days ago in the GTA.

    • I don't think they do in-store sign ups anymore (at least not at North York). App or website.
You're right, they don't. They took down the in-store machine's so it's online only now. Though, old physical cards still work.

    • I wouldn't say it "nothing" as they lose the revenue from selling coffee and they're likely to be paying more costs for coffee as 0$ sale volume will increase. Having said that that extra costs will be offset by profit margin from some ppl buying something considering they're not paying for coffee. This is not a small $ item, as there are a lot of ppl who go to IKEA just to hang out with friends...they'll now be getting a tea/coffee for free as well.
Yes. You are right. But we love free coffee in Ikea. I think IKEA Canada can offer free coffee for members every week by arranging a day as members day. It may get better marketing feedback.

    • Hang out with friends? Ikea isn't the mall. They're not located in central locations easily accessible by transit.

It's a good incentive to get people in the door but I can't imagine the average Joe saying "I wasn't going to Ikea but the free coffee/tea swayed me!" It's more like "getting to Ikea early in the day to beat the crowds sure paid off, plus I got a free coffee/tea to wake me up. I feel more inclined to go back."
Lot of condos surround the North York location....ppl do hang out at Ikea with friends.

were the little people still happy after?

Hmm, could be. I picked up my card sometime last year at Etobicoke location. There was an automated machine where you filled in the details and it dispensed a card.

    • Family card does work for hot beverages already, as our friend from Ikea mentioned (thanks). I assume that this will be chain wide, but not necessarily.
It worked at GTA Etobicoke Ikea, though.

    • Free coffee should not be a financial burden for IKEA. Compared to marketing and advertising expenses, it is nothing to give free coffee to their clients. At all, IKEA is far away from my location... Better to make my own coffee at home.😃

    • Hey guys, I work at IKEA's restaurant and the hot beverage deal with your IKEA Family card is already on at the restaurant. There's no limit as to how many coffee cups you can get under the same family card really but just don't make it look suspicious or overdo it, I guess? I mean I personally don't mind but unfortunately I'm not the only cashier that works there lol. The Egg Salad Sandwiches are also on discount, can't remember exactly how much but I believe it was for $2.99.

(This is Etobicoke based. Not 100% sure of the other locations.)
      Thanks for the info.

I remember when breakfast meals were $1. Saw people buy 5 or more and put them in Tupperware containers.

    • I used to visit my local store for their monthly family members meal deal special, but they stopped advertising what that deal is (either I just can't find it hidden on their site or maybe they ended it). End result is that I go shopping in Ikea way less! And a free coffee isn't going to get me to go in.

    • Does each family member need a card? This would actually encourage me to go to Ikea. We normally go there around coffee time to browse. Get more feet in the door.
Not a lot of details yet, but I would think so. It would be a surprise to me if you could get a bevy for a whole group on one card.
