We've covered ING Direct's THRiVE free chequing account before and with no fees to speak of it's a great primary or secondary account depending on how you plan to use it. ING though wants this to be your primary account and is encouraging you to switch over your paycheck deposits to your THRiVE account with a $100 incentive if you do so by July 31st the extended August 31st deadline. You can get all the details and all the information on the process including the transit and institution numbers you would need to get to your employee on their THRiVE promotion page.

      Dear xxx,

Where do your paycheques get deposited? If they aren't going into your THRiVE Chequing™ Account, then now is a great time to change that.

Arrange for your payroll or pension deposits to go into your THRiVE Chequing Account by July 31st and get a $100 bonus*!

Here's all you need to do:

Give your Human Resources department your THRiVE Chequing Account number, along with our bank information: our Institution Number is #614; our Transit Number is #00152.
If your payroll department asks you for a void cheque for your THRiVE Chequing Account, you can either give them one from the batch of 50 free cheques we mailed to you, or, if you'd rather not wait for the mail, you can get a void cheque online by logging into your THRiVE Chequing Account at ingdirect.ca.
That's it! Once your payroll is deposited, we'll put $100 into your THRiVE Chequing Account.

THRiVE Chequing was designed for Savers, by Savers like you who told us what they wanted. In fact, it really is the only chequing account you need. It offers you everything you'd expect from a chequing account and more.

I hope partial payroll deposit counts as I can split my payroll into 3 accounts

Yeah I was wondering about that too but there's no way they would know an amount is partial.

i dont think the amount matters as long as it's a payroll deposit.

    • Back in Nov 2010 I received a similar email for my Thrive account - $75 bonus for setting up paycheck direct deposit and $15 for 15 debit card payments. I received both rewards. Nice to see ING offering this again, this time to everyone.

I don't have payroll either (I take dividends), although I'll probably try pushing a "pay employee/vendor" ETF from my RBC business account to the new ING account, to see if I can qualify for $100.

Does anyone know if ING does a hard hit on your credit bureau when you open a Thrive account (presumably to calculate your deposit hold limit)? I assume that's going to be the case, even if you already have an ING savings account.
