Originally launched on November 16, MyMcDonald's Rewards is a new points-based loyalty program from McDonald's, replacing their previous coffee/fries program. MyMcDonald's Rewards lets you earn 100 points for every $1.00 you spend at McDonald's Canada, which can be redeemed for freebies like fries, McNuggets, Big Macs and more at specific thresholds – click here to learn more about the program and see all eligible rewards.

To celebrate the launch, you can get 5000 bonus points when you register for MyMcDonald's Rewards and make a purchase of $1.00. Simply download the McDonald's Canada app (Android, iOS), register for the program, then place a Mobile Order of at least $1.00 to qualify for 5000 bonus points.

This MyMcDonald's Rewards bonus is available for a limited time at participating McDonald's restaurants in Canada – click here to find the location nearest you.

    • If you are someone who goes to Mcdonald's solely for the coffee, this is very dissapointing as this rewards program is significantly worse and offers no free coffee. The only coffee redemption available in this program is a Large Iced Coffee, which you will be able to get after purchasing 30 coffees.

If you are someone who goes to Mcdonad's for food it is definetly a good change.

Yup, outside of the periods where McDonald's drops coffees to $1 my family is a Tim Horton's one (I'm not much of a coffee guy myself). At least provided it remains relatively similar to the US program, you can finally go for large. That's one of the big gripes I have with the current program, you can't upsize for a little extra like you can with the physical McCafe cards.

    • I don't understand why you'd make this change but then still keep Canada and the US completely separate.

If you're going to force the crappier rewards program on us at least let us use it in both places.

    • Points expire on the first (1st) day of the month after the sixth (6th) month from the date such points were earned

Grrrrreat, who wants that. Not me!

    • So I opened the app this morning and everything was fine and then...

I can't seem to get rid of this screen either, force-closing the app does nothing.

      *sigh* Whelp

    • I can't even get an answer out of McDonald's over whether this is declinable or not. Unreal.

If I lose all my free coffees/fries through no fault of my own I'm just straight-up deleting the app and not going there anymore.

You can not decline the change, however you will not lose any free coffee's or fries as long as you use them before February 28, 2022. If you choose to not use them by this date, they will be lost.

Okay that's good to know, I'm fine with pressing that button then lol.

    • All earned coffee/fries rewards remain on your account. You just need to redeem all those "classic" digital rewards before February 28, 2022.

    • Went to McDonald's for breakfast this morning and they rolled out this new program. There were signs in the store advertising it, and the kiosk prompted me to scan my code. Earned 5000 bonus points for my first transaction, and have enough for a lot of free stuff. 100 points/$1 spent. You can still get free coffee with 2000 points, and it looks like almost everything is available with the points.

Is this just a test region and it isn't nationwide yet? I live in Winnipeg.

    • Coffees may be 2k points but depending where you order here the coffee prices are like

      $1.39-1.49 for Small
      $1.69-$1.77 for Medium
      $1.89-$1.92 for Large
      $2.09-$2.17 for XL

So depending on if they round up for not (I know it doesn't factor in taxes) you're looking at a minimum of *ten* coffees needed for 1 free coffee now.

    • Also yeah here's the full run-down of the rewards:

(Note any kind of drink is "Any Size")

      2000 points
      -Iced Coffee
      -2 Donuts
      -Coffee
      -Vanilla Cone
      -Tea
      -Hashbrown (only in the mornings)

      4000 points
      -Latte
-Sausage McMuffin (the one without the egg)
      -Cheeseburger
      -Fries (any size)

      6000 points
-McMuffin (I don't know if this is just the regular one with the back bacon or any kind, the picture is the regular one)
      -McDouble
      -Snack-size McFlurry
      -Junior Chicken

      10,000 points
      -Happy Meal
      -6 McNuggets
-McMuffin Extra Value Meal (again don't know if this is just the regular one or any kind)
      -Big Mac

      14,0000 points
      -10 McNuggets
      -Quarter Pounder w/Cheese EVM
      -Big Mac EVM
      -McChicken EVM

Also one other thing I'm not sure about here is if the regular in-app offers (like $1 for a Vanilla Cone) are sticking around. They're still there (obviously), but the way the whole thing's laid out they could easily be removed.

I also have the above offer (under "Bonus Points") for 5k points for first $1 purchase and an offer for 100 bonus points for buying a Big Mac or QPC (either just the sandwich or an EVM). The wording in the offer implies it could be multi-use ("limit 100 bonus points per transaction") but I don't see any indication it is actually multi-use.
