McDonalds McDonald's: Get the McDonald's McCrispy Chicken Sandwich in Canada Try McDonald's New Spicy McCrispy Sandwich!

get this deal

Lunch is getting a little crispier at McDonald's, where the new McCrispy Sandwich is now available in Canada.

Originally launched on August 22, the McCrispy Sandwich is a new permanent menu item and McDonald's long overdue entry into the Canadian Chicken Sandwich War – the McCrispy features a 100% Canadian-raised breaded chicken breast, shredded lettuce and mayo-style sauce, all served on a soft potato bun. A Bacon Deluxe McCrispy is also available that adds slices of bacon and fresh tomato.

The Spicy McCrispy is the newest addition to the lineup added on November 7, which substitutes mayo-style sauce with McDonald's signature habanero sauce for some extra heat.

For reference, the McCrispy, Spicy McCrispy and Bacon Deluxe McCrispy are priced at $6.29, $6.59 and $7.99 in Toronto (respectively, pricing may vary by region). All three sandwiches are available to order in-restaurants, the McDonald's Canada app (Android, iOS) or your favourite food delivery apps.

The McCrispy Sandwich is available at participating McDonald's restaurants in Canada – click here to find the location nearest you.

The Arch! Bar none, McDonald's best. Menu item. Evar. They apparently reintroduced it in like Texas for a short time, but as a smaller burger, but I guess it didn't test well enough for them to expand it. Man I miss the Arch :( But I mean that's gotta be nearly 25 years ago. The "Hockey Hero" sandwich, with the three standard patties, came around a couple times since the Arch was discontinued--that was very similar as it used the same sauce, but that was only a 2-3 times "for a limited time" they even had that.

I think the idea of ever really bringing back the Arch Deluxe never crossed McD's executives' tables due to it going down in history as one of "the biggest marketing failures" in the fast-food industry :( It really was the best menu item though, IMO.

Anyway I still haven't tried this McCrispy, seems too pricey  There is a coupon for it but it's still like $8.79 for the combo with the coupon :|
I was a kid when it was out so 25 years ago is probably pretty close. What was it “the burger for adults”? Even just the photo of it looks so good. I don’t remember a hockey hero burger. Hope it comes back out as a promo soon. I just want to try the sauce again!

    • The Arch Deluxe was a good burger and usually my go-to. I'm a Quarter Pounder you, over Big Mac (gasp)

Wasn't the Arch Deluxe just a tomato, lettuce, mayo-added quarter pounder, or did it have some sauce of its own as well?
It had its own special patty that was like a more oblong quarter pounder, less thick. We had to sprinkle its own seasoning on it too.
Lots of unique stuff that was only used on that single burger. I think the seasoning and mayo made it stand out the most compared to a more greasy tasting quarter pounder.

    • Anyone know if this McCrispy is supposed to be less or more premium than the previous Seriously Chicken sandwich that was discontinued?
I was trying to remember what that was called! It was legit good.

It may have been a QP patty (actually it likely was as FF places like to streamline though then again Big Xtra was a different patty...). It used iceberg lettuce but two "leaves" instead of the shredded stuff; it used the QP slivered onions as well; but, it had certain other unique things:
-Potato bun (which honestly I swear was sourdough but all historical information says potato so I guess so)
-Had it's own special sauce (which is said to be a dijonnaise though I've never had any regular dijonnaise that was the same)
-Had peppered bacon (bacon was standard in the beginning but later they made a version w/o bacon for slightly cheaper)
-I think the ketchup was supposed to be different than the normal ketchup but I'm not 100% sure on that

It made for a unique FF burger that I've never really had one like again--had I known it was only going to last a few years, I would have eaten more of them LOL!

Though I do love my McD's, the Arch was a standout. The next time they would get to something similar was when they had the "build your burger" thing going on with the Angus patties and you could have it made to order with all the stuff you wanted. I loved that too, but again that was discontinued rather quickly--not sure it lasted more than a year :(
And this is the exact problem I know I'm going to have with this sandwich (haven't had it yet).
It can't win. It's not possible. So am I going to be ordering it? Nope.
I wanna order it just to try it but it's pricey; wish more locations promo'd it for $3. At the price it seems hard to justify v. "chicken place" sandwiches which are around the same.

In the US they actually had a competitive sandwich which was larger but that got discontinued there too after covid. Along with that they had the buttermilk chicken strips which were awesome and priced at $1 USD each. I used to get those all the time but after my first trip back after all the covid shenanigans, they were gone :( McD's over there used covid to axe various menu items, just as they did here. Those chicken fingers, which were Popeye's/Chick-Fil-A competitive, were part of things that got axed.

"The Arch Deluxe was a quarter pound of beef on a split-top potato flour sesame seed bun, topped with a circular piece of peppered bacon, leaf lettuce, tomato, American cheese, onions, ketchup, and Dijonnaise (a portmanteau of Dijon mustard and mayonnaise) sauce".

    • Is the McCrispy actually a piece of breaded chicken breast? Or is it the pressed "white meat" in the McChicken, just bigger with different breading?
It's somewhere in between. There are identifiable pieces of proper chicken breast but it is held together with McChicken type mechanically separated meat I think.

Was this the one where one of the options was a spicy one with a chipotle(or something) sauce. Had harvarti cheese and on the ciabatta bun? It was so good. I think McDonald’s has gotten rid of all of my favourites including the Arch Delux, Big Extra, this chicken sandwich!

    • Alright, didn't know where to comment this. Tried the McCrispy, which should be $4 on current app deals.

It's as crispy as the McChicken from like 10 years ago. The McChicken got worse, and the McCrispy is just the old McChicken when it was better.

Maybe they intentionally made it worse over time so they can bring out a new product lol.

Still doesn't beat chicken sandwiches from the fried chicken places.

    • I am surprised they didn't keep the grilled option. It was a nice change of pace from all the fried chicken burgers. Also surprised they didn't introduce a more "fried" chicken type of sandwich like the popeye's one. They have it down in the states, shouldn't be that difficult to bring up to Canada since this McCrispy thing is way too similar to the McChicken.
From my time at McDonalds years ago, I'm more surprised they didn't get rid of it sooner. It was the only chicken product cooked on the grill, it took 7 minutes to cook, and at least from the store I was at it wasn't ordered very regularly.

    • I tried the McCrispy and it tasted juicier than a McChicken and somewhat comparable to a Junior Chicken.

I always found the McChicken to be dry. In comparison to the Junior Chicken, the McCrispy was larger but tasted plain. If it had a tinge of spice the Junior Chicken does, I would rate it higher than the Junior Chicken in terms of size and taste.

    • I had one today.
It tastes an awful lot like a regular mchicken
I suppose the chicken patty was a bit stringier and more like chicken breast but it still tasted mushy and soft

Perhaps the recipe was tweaked slightly to give it a different texture. The cheap iceberg lettuce and the mayo makes all chicken sanwhiches at McDonald’s taste the same IMO
I miss the chicken mcgrill... hope they bring theatre back one day

    • McCrispy is a step in the right direction, atleast on paper. It's supposed to be a breaded piece of chicken breast versus the McChicken being a shitty processed chicken patty. Laughable prices other than the 3 dollar deal, I'd try it at this price.

Nutritional information shows 29g protein vs 16g in a McChicken.

**** McDicks and their overpriced garbage.
Pretty sure it's processed chicken (paste) from the 3-4 youtube videos (none really show the inside clearly though). Would like to know in case i'll order some McD in the future.

    • Is DQ really considered that terrible? My ranking order based on what you listed would be Five Guys, DQ, A&W, Wendy's, McDonalds, Burger King.

Hero was excluded simply because they don't exist in BC. Also depending on the menu item, I'd have DQ/A&W and McD/BK switch places.
DQ has good cheeseburgers and onion rings IMO

Wendy's, A&W, Burger King, Hero, Five Guys. All better.

OK maybe Diary Queen is on par with McDonalds, but DQ focus is not on burgers. Note that McDonald's Canada sucks only, McDonald's in Asia are better than Wendy's, A&W and Burger King generally.

    • it is but that's the union station premium markup. near me it's $10.29 and $11.99 respectively
So still close to $14 once you add tax. Fast food places are really no longer cheap and quick, they are expensive and slow. Not sure how much of that is just due to newer generations not knowing/willing to cook. Prices go up and line ups are still insane. Said in another thread i can get a nice Tandoori chicken bowl from a locate place for $10 taxes in and fills me up way more than any of these crappy "Meals" do. So whether its cooking at home or finding local gems, their pricing is delusional.
