    • Dont know about anyone else, but the app is running extremely slow and buggy for me 😕
Yes. It was stuck in ordering from montreal this morning and I'm no where near there.... I eventually got it to go to my local location after I drove up. The cool thing is, I was redeeming a free breakfast meal for 10k points. I only had 12k points. The app lagged and asked me to confirm twice and I was like whatever. When I got home I realized they gave me 2 meals. Checked the app and it gave me 2 meals for only redeeming it once.

    • It’s great how McDonald’s does this every year before winter keeping spirits high for the working people.

What I or possibly many office workers had to endure before COVID having to be sent downtown. WFH did not exist yet. Truly barbaric times imo.

But there were good memories and one was taking deep cool breaths and a short walk during break to McDs for that $1 hot coffee. Might not get as often now but keep it up McDonald’s 👍

    • Went to Brookfield Mcd at 161 Bay St before 7am. The ability to order $1 coffee from the app for that location was not available at all, so had to line up at cash, where they rang up $1.87 even though their display board says its $1. Cashier told me its app only, so I scanned my app, but still the price didn't change. Had to wait for a manager to manually change the cash register pricing.

I really hope it is not in app only, not when they display it on their menu board advertising it for $1...

    • I went to a local McDonalds in Vancouver today, and could not order via app because it was glitchy. (specifically I could not choose the McD location, pressing "Order here" just takes me back to the map)
So I ordered coffee, brought my own mug, got charged $1.92, so to get the $1 coffee, I have to order through the app it seems.

    • My App doesn’t have $1 coffee offer. Is it in restaurant orders only?
it's not posted in the section deals. you just select medium size coffee and it should price for 1$.

i think that each mcdonald has to change that on their own, since i saw mine charging less for latte and cappucino, also 1$ instead of 2$.

if they forget to change, buying at the kiosk or in person should be 1$ unless the mcd does not participate the promotion.

    • Too bad the medium has no Monopoly stickers. They tried to charge me $1.37 instead of $1.05, they said our system has an issue? Seriously? Imagine the amount of people they have overcharged.

    • Just ordered medium $1 coffee at McDonald’s at Allen
Road and Sheppard in north York and told NO FREE REFILLS. Ended with Covid.
Even Starbucks worked around the problem of COVID-19 and free coffee promo. They would have you place your travel mug/tumbler into their ginormous ceramic coffee mug so the employee would not touch your COVID-ladened mug (lol j/k), and they would hold the coffee mug with your mug inside it to fill it up at the coffee machine and then slide their coffee mug back to you for you to take back your travel mug/tumbler out of their coffee mug. Done.

This is a cop-out from McD's to say they stopped refills because of COVID-19. Understandable at the start of the pandemic. Today, COVID-19 is still an ongoing concern, but there are ways to work around refills. Buy some ceramic mugs from a dollar store or something and do what Starbucks does when it comes to refills. That way the employees will know which cups are new and which ones are refills. If McD's was so concerned about COVID-19, all their employees should be wearing gloves and face masks, but none of them do. So there's clearly a disconnect between what corporate says and what's happening on the ground.

McD's used to be the best value when it comes to coffee. First, their coffee quality has gone up. Second, their pricing is reasonable since they also come with a free refill (on the same visit). Third, they have a coffee loyalty program. I'm not so sure about them anymore with the ending of free refills and coffee sticker program.

Do not need an offer for this promotion. You can order it from the cold/hot drinks menu in the app or in-restaurant

    • Why not give the small coffee to the homeless guy or panhandler on every street in Toronto.

      0.02 over.
Or any city for that matter.

It was a massive Gong Show (S*** Show) in Vancouver when McD's was giving away a free coffee, but there was a new city by-law that came into effect to stipulate every retailer must charge for any takeout packaging including single-use cups. There was no way to get around this system and requirement the way their cash registers were programmed. A street person isn't going to have any money to pay for that coffee cup and defeats the purpose of the free coffee campaign. So it completely screwed up McD's free coffee campaign as "fake charity" to the community, but it was actually a government caused problem. Someone at city hall didn't think this through before rushing headlong into it, thinking this is good for public image and will garner more votes.

Being green isn't easy as they would say.... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

in case that you haven't notice, the price jumps a lot and there are less promotion and most of the time is restricted by using the app only. in essence, you are paying for these points, i would rather continue as it were.

    • I miss the free refills at McDonalds. It stopped due to the Pandemic, but they decided not to bring it back. I always ask, but the answer is always the same. It was the perfect excuse to hang around the restaurant with a laptop or mobile phone.
The pandemic proved a perfect excuse to get rid of the free refills. It will NEVER return. Just look how they changed from last time they offered coffee discount - ANY size for $1, now only for a medium - cheap!!

But you are right, loved to go in with my tablet & get as many refills as I (& my bladder) could handle!

    • For two months there I had any size coffee $1. This isn't too bad though. Might get myself two mediums in the morning, still cheaper than one XL
Nope, two mediums would be $2.10 ($1.00 .05 tax) whereas an XL including tax is $1.70 to upgrade.

I should know, I'm sitting in McDs now after having bought an XL! 😁

"... but Covid Ended too, so the NO FREE REFILLS policy MUST end too." Talk back to them like that, and they will cave-in.

I will try it this later today when I go to get my $1 coffee.

    • Lol why did people downvote this. Have you been to starbucks?
In fairness, as a RFDer Starbucks can be competitive McDonald's, with some adjustments:

      1. You need to have time. If you're on the run McD usually more cost efficient.
      2. Bring your own cup = 10 cents off. McD might do this too but not as prevalent.
      3. Pour-over can be asked for, and your coffee will be fresh.
      4. If you have time and the Starbucks Card/App, consider getting a short hot coffee. After that, if you stay you can get whatever unlimited cups of whatever size hot or iced coffee etc, for a very low outlay of approx $2 in Ontario.
      5. Collect stars. Sometimes if you buy something (e.g. a cheesestick, a scone, a coffee) x number of times you accumulate. Then use the 50 stars for a Venti traditional Cafe Misto customized to the gills (see Starbucks threads).
      6. Keep eyes out for gift card promotions. Fallback is buying these in grocery stores and using a strong credit card (Amex Cobalt etc).

Back to McDonald's, if you're only doing the one cup, and want to have a reasonable assurance of consistency it's not bad for $1. Same per line 6 above for gift cards etc, and senior's coffee.

    • I'm still bitter (no pun intended) about McD's ending their cup sticker program, which shuts out a big part of the population that doesn't have a smartphone and not technically savvy from being part of their loyalty program. I get that they want to simplify the cost of administering 2 loyalty programs by combining them, but that's just how big corporate rolls. Too big to fail, too big to care. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Anyways, thanks for the heads-up. I still have those coffee cards I need to use up.

    • Coffee can be like religion. It's sacred for some people. Ever since McD's have stepped up their coffee game, they've been my go-to since. I can't drink Tim's coffee other than their dark roast, and Starbucks is too strong or too weak. • Nice to have them back. However, should be any size. Doesn't really costs them for a bit more coffee. I guess it's just to get you in the door in hopes you buy more shit.
i work in downtown, the extra traffic due to this promotion can be taxing for the staff and those who order more than just a coffee.
