    • That Chicken Meal coupon went from $7.49 to $7.99 to $8.49 to now $8.79.

In five years, it's gonna be $39.99.

I don't think that prediction will be far off, it might even be low. The "official" inflation rate calculations are way off for the lifestyles of most of consumers.

I agree Harvey's prices have become way to high.

Their base combo without a coupon is like $10

      Honestly.

All the fast food chains and their dumb coupons... I think they do it on purpose.

You get coupons in the mail. You think ab9ut Harvey's.
Then you walk by one and you feel like a burger but you don't have the coupon book. So you go order anyway and pay full price because you had Harvey's on your mind since last night... Then you also saw the coupon book which you conveniently left by your car keys on the way to work .

So the hunger for Harvey's was brewing for 15 hours. You pay full price.

      Harvey's 1
Pocket book out an extra -$2 since no coupon.

Harvey use that extra $2 profit to send u another coupon book and that Circle of fast food life continues

Harveys is getting pretty pricey IMO. $6.79 for a regular burger combo is a lot considering it's not pure beef and kind of thin.

Forget regular price at Harveys. Total rip off.

    • Yeah, fast food isn't cheap anymore, but it's still cheaper than a full service restaurant, so that hasn't changed.

      +1

$6.79 is still not too bad for a burger combo.

People don't realize how much everything else has gone up around them lol. Stagnant wages too. Rent going up.

Who would've thought that advertising works.

Speaking as a former marketer in the fast food industry, that used to create these coupons for national distribution. Although we wouldn't bank on people forgetting their coupons. We are mainly doing two things with coupons, getting foot traffic into the door, and having an opportunity to upsell.

We try to time coupon drops around the time of a new product launch, so that when you come into the restaurants, you will be tempted to order 1 more thing on top of your coupon purchase. If you just use the coupons, that's no big deal too, since the gross profits are still high on them.

    • I worked at McDonald's in the early 80's, and if I recall I was making $3.15 an hour, which was nearly the exact price of a Bic Mac meal which I recall being $2.99 (we got them for half price of a $1.50 as employees, but that's not relevant).

If you look what kids are making now in McDonald's, It's what, $14 hour?
I don't know what a Big Mac meal is anymore, but I doubt it's gone up a corresponding amount...
