    • if the drive could be taken out, i could shuck it and dump an SSD in

    • SSD is upgradable with nvme, so you can have both 1 TB for storage and SSD for performance. Great price for a basic gaming laptop.
Price on it has been falling since December and I think it's a final cutdown before the stock is gone.

    • How good of a deal is this? I'm in the market for a gaming laptop but not in a rush. I'm open to buying used as well if there's better value buying second hand.

    • Would this be more powerful than a base late-2013 macbook pro?

This is just a good bang for buck laptop, normally a laptop with this level of spec will float down to around 800 if it's on special or sale.

Low mid end with enough juice for light gaming.

Alright, since it's walmart, if i still see stock by noon, i'll grab one, if I don't want it, i know i could return it :)

YES! AND it's a great price to boot. great graphics, powerful processor, you'll need an SSD that's for sure, but it won't increase the price by much.

Walmart states that clearance items are final sale in their return policy. Not sure if they enforce this rule though.

hmm... good point, but then I returned a lot of clearance stuff before, probably depends on the CSR rep you deal with

if 1st walmart csr doesn't wanna do it for u, don't waste time arguing, just hit another walmart or come back later when someone else is working

It does not say it's on clearance, FYI.
Will pick up one to upgrade my i5-7200u, purchased at the same price about 2 yrs ago. I'm not a gamer but doubling CPU benchmark will help.

This is definitely lower end for gaming. You will be stuck in low settings for some current games @ 1080, some others you can get away with medium/high. But really depends what you play, no point going out getting a 1060 or better if you don't play games that need it.

      see gaming benchmarks below

      https://www.notebookcheck.net/NVIDIA-Ge ... 614.0.html

it is a great deal as far as performance:$ , especially if you have a SSD laying around to swap into this. I would be weary if you play current gen games and plan to be using this for a few years though

Shows 'clearance' badge on the product page for me.
They might not enforce this rule, but YMMV, I guess.
