    • Dec 5 pricing:
      Surface Pro - Intel Core i5 / 128GB SSD / 4GB RAM CAD $1,299.00
CAD $1,169.10 For eligible students, faculty or staff at Universities and colleges.

Microsoft Surface Pro Type Cover (Black - English) CAD $169.99

      so 1,299.00+169.99= 1,468.99 so 318.99 off, or 22%

I had a surface pro 2 for a while. Great little device but sold it out without much usage. In my case, anything that was useful required a keyboard and as a tablet, it wasn't really as useful/ergonomic as an android/ipad device.

Also, it's false weight savings since I never actually took it anywhere without the keyboard adapter/cover.

So really, and ultralight notebook is where I've gravitated and works best for me.

The one clear win.... the stylus and touchscreen was amazing for drawing.

I just wished the battery was user replacable. Instead, they glued the battery to the casing as well as having it behind huge layers of screws.

I've owned 2 windows tablets now and have been disappointed both times. Might be good for sales folk but even then, you lose a lot of usability without a keyboard.

Final note. The high resolution is actually a problem for some of the professional programs that I use as they don't support font scaling :(

    • They should give 8 GB of ram to the base model. Even Apple are giving 8 GB of ram for all their base model Mac except for the mac mini.
I'll buy a surface pro when that day will come. IMO, I just feel it's a lot asked to spend an extra $350 to get 8 GB of ram (+ 128gb of storage)...

    • Usually all the deals and doorbusters get leaked early, not the case this year?

      Exactly.

You can pick up a nice used pro 3 on eBay right now for $400-500.

I bought my Surface Pro 1 almost 4 years back for $400 used. 3 chargers later and the thing still works like a charm.

    • That's what I think too. Years ago I had some XBox credit from MS Store orders and I was only able to use them to buy XBox Live subscription, games and apps. Maybe a glitch or recent policy change.

I thought this is good for only games/apps and not hardware. Are you sure it's applicable for the console/tablets/etc?

I have pro3 i7 (work) and pro4 i5 (personal). I'd recommend pro4 i5. The pro3 i7 model has some heat issue and the screen is a little bigger on pro4 compare to pro3.
      I'd highly recommend pro4 i5.

Haha, yeah those first gen surface chargers were garbage. The 3rd party one ended up lasting longer than both the OEM ones.

This is the Xbox deal you’ve been waiting for. Check back on December 16 after 12:00 AM ET to preview details.

Very curious. Might bite. 500GB Xbox One S console / controller only seems to be going for ~$220 CAD right now.

Maybe console for ~$199 or console and good game for ~$250?
