View allThe arguments against Apple stuff are usually hardware specs’ based which, from my perspective, miss the point.
I haven’t tried an Android tablet since around 2014 but back then there was something fundamental to Android that made it terrible at handling PDFs. It would constantly have to redraw the page every time you flipped to a new page. iPad did not have that issue. I don’t know if they’ve fixed that since then but like I said on multiple android tablets made it seem like an intrinsic Android weirdness.
In any case I doubt there’s a better drawing/writing tablet out there for $380 (plus cost of pencil)
I want a tablet where I can mostly read pdf documents/textbooks and maybe write on as well. Would this iPad be appropriate for this function? Conversely, would another tablet be better suited for me? Not looking to spend too much money, maybe 200-400. Prefer Android but don't know much about tablets.
Thanks.
Couldn't get through to ordering at costco with coupon on boxing day so this is close enough.
Reference: iPad 2 (ancient) vs 6 (similar to 7)
Netflix looks the same, which shocked me. Plays fine on both. Old one just takes longer to start the movie.
Mainly Netflix and maybe some crappy games. Leaning to the Pro 10.5" as a bit bigger scree, 4 GB ram vs 3, 4 speakers vs 2, 17% brighter than the air and 7 gen, ProMotion, 4K recording vs 1080p, 12 mp camera vs 8.
Anyone have any opinion. Want something that will last the longest and run the fastest (will I notice?)
Thanks.
Oh, seems to be Gen 5, dang
Is the apple pencil only for certain ipads?
Never realized how great it was until I used it. And now we have 3 for our 3 iPads. And moko (Amazon) cases that hold iPad and pencil.

There are two versions of the Apple pen. I thing the gen 1 works with this iPad. The 2nd generation of pen doesn’t work, but I am not 100% sure. I have an iPad with the 1st gen pen. It’s really very good. I used Wacom active pens on other platforms for years. Wish these Apple pens had been around then.
The Apple pen charges via a USB to lightening cable with an adapter (included with the pen) or by plugging the pen directly into the lightening port of the iPad. Charges fast and uses very little battery from the iPad. Amazon sells cases for the iPad, some of which include a holder for the pen.
Good price but those are the 6th generation. The costco ones are 7th gen.

I was planning to use this iPad as a consumable for news and media while traveling or during commutes, but I decided to invest in a high-end tablet (probably Surface) instead so I can do both work and play. Oh well.
Charges via microUSB. You cannot charge charge it on the side. That's the downside of a 3rd party product. But the quality using good, been using it for almost a month.
