    • Not a bad deal but I'm personally waiting on a black Friday deal for a wifi 7 router 😂

    • I have a 2018 RT-AC86U with a dead LAN port #2. 1-3-4 are working just fine but #2 refuses to work since last week. tried reset, soft reset, opened it up to see if there was a bad solder joint but nothing.

RT-AX86U looks like the logical choice but I can't justify spending 400$. any model I should check ? I have a duplex with a 2nd level and the modem has to be in the basement.

    • ASUS RT-AX92U 2-pack at staples, $300
Both units are identical, use one, sell one.
One thing to note with the AX92U is that its 5GHz-1 band is only Wifi 5; only the 5GHz-2 (typically backhaul) band is Wifi 6. Probably matters less if you're only using one node only.

    • It was slightly cheaper a couple of weeks ago via The Source + Bell Advantage pricing.
XD6 is very good if you can use wired backhaul. With wireless backhaul, the triband XT8 has the advantage.
1Gb vs 2.5Gb WAN is a moot point for 99.99% users - very few people have 2.5Gbit FTTH service and matching download speed requirements.
Update: these are on sale again. With bell advantage, xd6 is $204.59 and rt-ax92u is $279.19 @ the source

    • Any comparable access points to this with POE? I would like to keep wifi powered up during a power blip with a POE injector located in basement on a UPS. Smart devices seem to mess up as they reboot faster than the modem/router can and are stuck not able to find wifi.

Don't need specific routing settings, I am okay delegating that to the rogers modem/router, Just want to get the main transmitter out of the basement, but still keep on battery backup.....

I think you are correct. The XT8 has 2.5GbE wan and this only has 1Gb. That’s the first thing I notice.
