      Head Rest Mod
Advisable for folks between 5'10" and 6'2", any taller and you're best recommended not to install the head rest.

Gel Seat Cushion - [Option 1]
The seat cushion is very useful for (1) long-term comfortable seating and (2) distributing your weight so the mesh doesn't sag. Do not use the Option 1 seat cushion for your vehicle, it's known to get cold outside in winter.

The Staples Hyken Chair: Value Proposition

A task chair designed for productive functional comfort.

      1) Breezy and cool mesh keeps your bottom cool, and allows for easy air release.
      2) The chair encourages upright posture.
2A) It's helped relieve mild back pain.
      3) The head rest is good for folks up to 6'2" with the head rest mod, otherwise you can skip the install.
      4) The gel seat cushion option improves seat comfort and distributes weight to avoid sagging.
      5) Anecdotal: It's deployed across a few offices here with great success, using the gel seat cushion.

The Staples Corporate guy I'm in contact with tells me these chairs are flying, I believe him.

The Staples Hyken Chair isn't for everyone.

You're hearing some marginal complaints from two camps:
      1) Folks who prefer luxurious comfort over practical and productive comfort.
      2) Folks who don't know that the gel seat cushion is a thing.

If you fall into camp 2, trust me when I say, a good gel cushion makes a big difference. If you're still not satisfied, you fall into camp 1.

I will never touch a $1,000 luxurious leather work chair again.

    • I'm 6' and bought this chair 6 months ago for $200. Im pretty happy with it overall. The headrest is a bit of a pain but after doing the headrest mod it feels much better. It's worth it at $200 so 139.99 is s no brainer. Easily one of the best chairs under 300.

    • How does this compare to a Herman Miller or the Ikea MARKUS. I know the HM is like 10x the price , but looks similar

Mod works if you're as tall as 6'2"... if you're taller, it's better to toss the head rest.

I'm 6'2" but I don't use the headrest. There are five of these chairs in my company now.

Cushions are a problem. I don't flatulate much since keto, but the Hyken is better if you toot your horn while seated. It's also better if your rear admiral gets hot on cushions. The aerated mesh seat is nice and breezy.

Also great for letting farts dissipate rather than fester in the cushion.

On a serious note, praise the lord that this isn't another "gaming (aka break your back slowly) chair" deal!

Folks, I always recommend an aerated gel seat cushion with this seat. It's just more comfortable.

Normally, this guy is on sale for $10 to $15 instead of $45:

Do folks have good alternatives for the gents?
I'll need to purchase this once it's on sale. I've had this chair since last year and it's hurting by hamstrings for some reason. I'm hoping a seat cushion like this will help.

    • Look out for a $20 off 75 coupon on the mail too. :)

For those who have it already, do you recommend it? I have a really old one at home and have back problems but i dont see a difference between my home and office chair which is newer... Do chairs really make a big difference for back pain?

Yes, but sitting posture makes a even bigger difference. A good chair will encourage good posture, but in the end you have to be mindful about it.

    • If you weigh over 200 lbs and plan on using it a lot (10+ hours a day everyday) the mesh on the seat will get looser over time, I've had mine for 2 years and it sinks a lot when sat on. Also the tilt lock is broken and will only lock about halfway (45 degree).

Broken tilt lock not covered under the 7 year warranty?

It does. I had the same issue and can't sit on the Hyken for long periods without a gel cushion.

      It's a must for me.

I'm over 200lbs, I don't have this problem. Using a gel seat cover seems to mitigate this problem significantly.

    • Hi,

Would anybody recommend this chair over gaming chairs?

I don't game much but I want to know if its worth adding more money for a gaming chair.

      Thanks
