    • How does the referral work for Public Mobile now?
If new customer uses friend referral code, new customer will get $10 credit within 72 hours. The existing customer either gets 1 reward point per month (legacy rewards $1/month). Need to use code when activating new SIM card/account.

Existing customers do not get the 3x points if they switch plans. Only new activations.

    • Do you also get a further discount with their whole points thing?

And what is one point worth in the grand scheme of things?
If you are a new customer/activations, you will get 3x points for one year. Equivalent to 15% worth of points for 1 year. After one year, back to 5% points.
If on old rewards system, no further discount.
1 points is equivalent to $1 dollar. 15 points gives you $15 account credit. Or you can use points to buy discounted add ons or enter various contests. Similar to Telus rewards.

    • If you click on Offer Details, this plan has been available since July 2022
The "available since July 2022" is the 3x points offer (Earn $6.00/mo in pts value). This is noted by the symbol +
NOT the plan. The plan has been available for a bit (often hidden via activation only) maybe starting in October based on your link/the thread

    • I was just in Europe for half a year so I missed out on earlier deals. This would have been nice if it was valid for Ontario. I'm currently paying around $18 for 1 GB at 3G plus unlimited calls/texts.
This PM deal has been ongoing. See Ongoing Deal Discussion Forum:

      https://forums.redflagdeals.com/40-15gb ... d-2574568/

It was re-named Lunar New Year plan a few weeks ago.

Now it's just $40 15GB plan. If you click on Offer Details, this plan has been available since July 2022

    • Yup, this should be Canada wide not just BC, seems like the same deal as before. Public Mobile has been good for me so far.
So, I had one of my lines at $40 and dropped it down to $25 as I don't need that much data anymore for working from home.

    • Would like to switch to this plan from $120 for 3month prepaid plan with old reward program. I have two questions for those who switched already:
      1. If I switch now, would PM refund me the prepaid fund? As my plan was just renewed. Otherwise, I'll have to wait until my plan next renewal date.
      2. After switch, do they switch me to new reward program? Or I will stay with my old program?

      Thanks
      1. No, Public mobile will not refund or pro-rate plans. Best to schedule plan change at next renewal
      2. After switch, you will not be switched to new points system. Stay on the old rewards.

    • My unscientific tests seem to indicate that Koodo/PM enforce their advertised speed cap, whereas Virgin/Bell does not. Since switching the Virgin $45/50GB plan, which supposed has a 150mbps cap, I've seen over 200mbps on a couple of occasions, in certain areas.
That could be just false speed reporting

    • This also happened to me but Zaptor99 is right. It could be that you need to clear your browser cache and reload the page. Once I did that, I was able to see the correct plan.

To be clear, I ordered the 4G/15GB plan in November as an existing customer but opted to change the plan on renewal, not immediately.

    • My son wants to upgrade his $15 plan today. Seeing $40 for 5GB + 5GB for 8 months with the BONUS5FOR8 promo code. Guessing the 15GB is no longer being offered? We're in Ontario although he's in Quebec for the next 2 months at least.
If you login to his account, and click on change plan, you can see the $40/15GB plan is still there and you can switch to it now or on the next renewal.

Clear cache or use different browser when you log in. Their website has a cache issue and sometimes shows old plan and old usage.

did 2 Speedtests after my switch a few days ago.
once during regular work hours, once at night after 10pm

can confirm my download speeds now get capped at 100Mbps when before i was getting 140-180Mbps

(prob less of an issue downtown 6ix, as my buddy does not usually get above 100Mbps anyway, pre-plan switch)

Both the $45/20GB and $40/15GB are still available in my plan change selection as of Friday, January 6/2023, 5:30pm PST.

I've seen a "offer expires January 9" somewhere on the PM website, but I'm not sure if that is just for the promo data bonus' * or these two plans as well... If one were in the market for this I'd sign up / schedule a "plan change at next renewal" (take screen shot of confirmation tag) ASAP.

      * Edited to clarify: I mean the limited time deals that need a promo code like 12MONTHS12GB etc

    • Really?
See I got blocked on this

In old days I could earn rewards through refer / message boards and they would carry over
At one point I went nearly 2 years (I think it was 18 months) worth of credits lol

Now even if I earn more it caps it out for me
Public mobile might have blocked this loophole. In the new points system, I don't think that it would be blocked. Maybe in the old rewards system.

The website is finicky. Try to login in with a different web browser, clear cache or incognito mode. Sometimes the website shows the old cached version of the plan.

    • Here's another option just saw on RFD, Public Mobile 8 GB at 4G speed $35 less 3X points = $29..75 for 12 months, use promotion code 5GBFOR12MTH

      public-mobile-8gb-29-75-12-months-2589688/
Save $5 but only get 3GB (after the first year).
spend $5 more and get 15gb/month permanent.

But maybe good for those who only need 3GB-8GB of data and want to save the $5
