    • Isn't this the Switch? Nothing against the Switch.

Same SoC if that's what you mean, the Tegra X1. I believe this is clocked faster, but has less RAM then the Switch.

    • Does anyone know if this will work as an IPTV box ?

    • *edit*. Fyi, this was $229.99 about a month ago. I bought it from Newegg but am returning it since Kodi is almost dead and I don't really need a streaming device.

If I decide to go IPTV, I will consider the Dreamlink box for much cheaper.

Sure it would, overkill for just iptv though.

    • How good is this box for game steaming from PC to TV?

For example, I have a steamlink and find games to stutter, even on wired connections

For illicit add-ons I assume he means.... Now every man and his dog has a "Kodi box", the add-ons are either saturated or getting taken down. Not worth the grief....

supposedly it can be your plex server even

    • How is the performance as a Plex client? Can it play all video files and all surround sound modes?
    • Best use for it would be to run Kodi with Plex add-on.. Gives you Kodi subtitles magic and plex front end. Support HEVC and 4K..

I don't think the code is a one time use.

Yes you can BUT there is a caveat to it. There is only one folder that has read and write functionality. Everything else is read only. I recently retired my WDTV as well once I got the Shield. I used to copy whatever TV show etc. to the WDTV and watch/delete from there. Now I do the exact same thing but have to copy to inside of that one read/write folder. Slight change, no big deal. Copying is much faster to the shield (both my WDTV and Shield are wired) as well. I have it mapped in windows exactly like the WDTV was. Again tho I mapped directly to the read/write folder since I can only put files in that one folder.

Using it takes a little getting used to tho as compared to the WDTV.... As good as kodi is, the WDTV was just a wonderful device to use. Everything just worked all the time. This is my first kodi experience though. Never had/used kodi before getting the shield. Also the lack of an ir port means my Harmony 650 obviously doesn't work with IT. I'm looking into USB ir blasters atm as I hate switching remotes.

Try the below, it lets you access the external disk connected to Shield via PC but wouldn't recommend for transferring huge files but in my case Shield is not wired.

      VirtualHere USB Server
