    • I dislike it when people don't post basic details for non knowersofwhatthingsare like myself. This page thread should give a user enough information to at least know what a ryzen is if they don't know already.

To be fair, I think the vast majority of people who would take advantage of the deal will know exactly what it is from just the title.

i run hackintosh full time so my next build looks like it will have to be intel again.

      I feel the R7 1700 is

I think having more cores will be important going forward, and the price isnt much more than the ryzen 5 series.

I'm not convinced it's really worth more than a 1600. You can overclock both and you don't even get a cooler with the 1600x. I think the 1600 and 1700 are the best bang for your buck right now.

This is exactly why I went with the 1600 as opposed to the 1600x. The difference in processor cost (was) only $30 but adding another $30-50 for a cooler made it too much of a jump for my budget.

I Dislike when * complain they weren't spoon fed enough information to make a snap buying decision...A purchase like this requires some component research, and contemplation on what you will be doing with the computer. Then making the purchase as an educated buyer... *

    • Did someone manage to get that deal? I think it ran out of stock or NewEgg made a mistake, but I'm waiting to see if it comes back.
Was in the promo email from Newegg Canada this morning.

    • It looks like Intel is finally preparing to respond to Ryzen:

      https://www.eteknix.com/intel-coffee-la ... up-leaked/

Mainstream i7 hexacores sound awesome. AMD has finally brought us the competition Intel sorely needed for a long time. Coffee lake is also rumored to be 30% faster than Kaby Lake, however I'm not sure if that's due to the two additional cores, or if Intel has actually made a 30% IPC gain.

    • For those considering the 1600, the cpu cooler that comes with this thing is loud. Like hear it over headphones loud. My brother in law is already asking me about different options.
