Mine is so far so good. Upgraded RAM to 16GB and added another 512GB SSD for more storage. Playing Grim Dawn with very high settings smoothly

A bunch of the ASUS programs are not useful as well.
I am also liking it as well. I put it through a stress test and the CPU got hot and the fan started but it handled it good.
Silent mode is good enough for me as well. I am using it mostly for general usage not as much gaming.
One thing i noticed though is the initial folders on my desktop, when i open them it is a bit slow opening. After that it opens them fast. I think its the security software that comes free for 1 month. I might deinstall and see if that fixes the issue.
Other than that great so far.
Another good thing is the extra slot for the SSD SATA has a hook up and box where it slips right in and is firmly held. Liking that.
Any suggestions? Because if so, i may just return this for a beefier laptop.
That said, i am still super excited about this. Always been a desktop guy but for the right price i am willing to go to laptop.
TIA
Getting 4-6 hours ish depending on what I am doing.
I have the fan running silent. Cannot hear it. The cpu is staying below 50c for my usage and settings. It's averaging 37 ish. My room is about 19-20c for reference.
Also this laptop is 599 dollars over there right now. Not as good a deal as in Canada.

I went into the AMD Radedon settings. Once I enable the application for performance the graphics card seems to work. Some of the applications does not allow me to put it in to the performance mode though.
The 560 graphics card pops up once in a while showing it is being used once in a while. Is this normal for a graphics card?
Do I need to activate the card?
You have to pry at the front. Make a gap and lift. If you pry from the back you are likely to break the clips.
The bottom pops off really easy after you get a bit of a gap in the front of the laptop.
I found the ram was also micron:
pc4-3200aa-sa2-11
I added 750 SSD I had around. Now have over 1TB. Works well.
Someone asked about the thermals of this laptop.
I am not gaming much. Just basic stuff. Fan on low sometimes. Not being bothered.
HP laptops generally have good keyboards. Almost mechanical.
The laptop on this asus is pretty good to. It feels like a membrane though. It does have some mechanical characteristics.

I really liked this laptop and always been satisfied with previous asus product, but this one make me hesitate. Is there any other decent deal with a 17 inch? if not i might order another one again but i am a little scared now.
Good:
Battery lasts about 4.5 hours
Lid shuts in a nice way
I tested it with an old game I have and it handled it great no lag
Sound from fans is no longer a issue. I guess it was just the initial install phase
It has not got that hot yet. I have not tested it to much though.
Bad:
It's hard to open the bottom of the case. I will wait until I decide to keep to open it to prevent damage.
Sound from speakers is below average.
Stickers are where I put my mouse. Will peel off if I decide to keep.
If I find more stuff out I will post one or two more times.
Micron 2200V MTFDHBA512TCK
I will look it over tomorrow and write something maybe.
So far the key board is okay.
The track pad is useable. It is stiff and loud. I will be using mouse when playing games so no big deal.
The fan is always on. It is low though. I think it will get louder when more applications are on our I play a game.
I might put it in silent mode.
I thought I wouldn't like the red coloring. It is okay.
Its not getting to hot yet.
I like how wide the screen is. The height is not the greatest. It is not a deal breaker.
The power button is the cheapest feel of the laptop. The keys are okay.
The case is a strong plastic. No complaints.
Screen is good. It is not the best I have seen but for a budget laptop it is really good.
Will add more later.
The fan and CPU is tricky. I can't customize it yet like I am used too. You can use the FN + F5 to quickly toggle between profiles. The original profile seemed to have the fan running loudly without doing anything. Silent mode was better.
Update: digging the laptop. Battery last a really long time. Longer than expected. There is also a built in battery saver mode that limits charge to 60/80percent depending on preference. I strongly recommend you use this especially if it will be plugged in most of the time.
Main Draw backs:
Track pad
Sound system
Some said didn't like keyboard
Some said their was loud fan noises when pushing the laptop in games
Some said the SSD was western digital and was of a lower quality than other brands
Lack of SD card, lack of many ports, thunderbolt, C
Issues with drivers. Some of GPU not being utilized
Battery life is okay
The laptop is heavy
Some do not like the red styling
Some did not like the fan system.
The good:
Screen is good and large. It does have 60hz but still looks good
Graphics card for a budget laptop. Can play most games. Not at high settings for newer games
Good amount of SSD
Good amount of RAM
CPU isn't the greatest but no one really complained about it as a bottleneck or anything
People liked the build quality of the case generally
Easy to upgrade SSD and RAM. It likely does not need this though. 8 GB RAM is pretty good for general use. 512GB is good for general use.
I did buy this laptop. I am going to test it out and maybe return. It is a budget laptop. I am not expecting it to be top end anything.
Just got mine. I noticed the touchpad has a lot of movement. When I tap it it moves a lot whereas most laptops I have had the touchpad does not really move. This makes it rather noisey when doing tap-clicks.
Anyone else have that, is it normal with this model? Tried googling it but my googlefu is failing me.
Dedicated GPU a bit of over-kill, but specs seem decent for the price and will give it a bit more longevity than a really budget option. She's not going to care about the performance difference between this and an i7-9750H or higher end GPU.
The $50 off through RBC was the clincher!
Also I think at most it moves from the office to the kitchen at times and maybe living room. I don't think size matters other than him being able to actually see the words on the screen.
You can compare gpu on gpu.userbenchmark too if you can find it.
