View allIts got the same guts basically as the 9360 but with a slightly smaller battery, so of course battery life is actually lower than the 9360 fhd version.

12 1/2 h on xps 13 9370 vs 16h on 9360 (fhd versions).
Obviously the new (stunning) 4k screen is significantly less - 8+ hours battery.

Im lovong the 9360. There is coil whine on mine but *only when using the usb-c port to charge external devices.

Also, I've configured this to 3f swipe L/R for back/forward Chrome navigation, you might find handy on your XPS.

Be aware they have policy to reject price adjustment if the listed item is out of stock.
The 7th gen is $899 but not sure if they are in stock anymore.
Its not specific to any generation just some machines have it and some don't.
I've had great luck with not having coil whine on the xps 13, and I've had it on cheaper ones before...
I'm not expecting anything perfect either but my Macs are silent.
1) I'm not looking for perfection or "total silent", but for any notebook/laptop let alone a $1000+ machine, its not acceptable. Mine is like constant electrical wires/currents touching each other, lol. Just plug in the earphone jack and go into Bios and you will hear it.
2) This thing is slow as molasses, took more than 20 secs to get into Windows 10. The Lenovo Yoga 720 13 (7th Gen) took only 6 secs. I think this has something to do with the Dell Bios and the modified Dell power options in Windows 10, as there are only two options - Balance & Dell.
Got one from the store this afternoon and apparently the $1099.00 price is still good as of today.
Its so much better (and cheaper too) to buy from Microsoft store, no restocking fees/instant refund if needed.
Buying directly from Dell is another story, even with all the discounts/coupons/EPP codes, still couldn't get this $1099.00 price plus you have to wait for shipment and if anything gone wrong or you don't like it, you have to ship it back/wait for repairs/refund or might need to pay restocking fees, whereas buying from the store, everything can be done instantly.
Bought the Lenovo Yoga 720 13 back in July and the all in price was $802.69 http://forums.redflagdeals.com/lenovo-c ... 112614/23/.
The all in price difference between the Lenovo Yoga 720 13 (7th gen i5) vs the Dell XPS 13 (8th gen i5) is $428.19, hmmmmmm.
I have never ordered from the MS store before.
That's what I was worried about and hence why I'm still using a 460s which is due for an upgrade.
The flip around screen is cool but with the keyboard on the back side it felt weird.
Edit: is there anyway to still get the discounted Xbox live gift cards and use it by price adjusting?
Ordered the i7-8550U, 8GB, 256GB, QHD+ model from Dell for $1500 after eBates and other discounts.
This one with the i5-8550U is $1232 after taxes. With student discount, it's $1107. If I add a 256GB SSD, it's like $130~ making it $1240, which isn't so bad. I'd be saving $260 for a slightly slower CPU and a FHD screen which would give me better battery life.
So depends if you want portability/2-1 or beefier CPU. The 2 in 1 also has less ports, I think it's even missing full size USB-A ports so you need to use a dongle via USB-C
[EDIT] Talking about the 9365 2 in 1

This one is 2in1 laptop /tablet
i7-7Y75
256gb ssd
exact same price... not too sure which one is better to be honest.....
any suggestion?
