    • Good deal. SSD is small but can be upgraded. Unfortunately 8GB RAM is not upgradeable.

I don't think the 8th gen has even been this low
The flex 5 14" deal a few days ago had the same processor and it was $650

Sorry, I was referring to the XPS line. I think this is a great deal for those specifically looking for a tier-1 ultrabook (ie. XPS, Spectre, Yoga...)

I too bought the 7th gen version. Is it worth $100 just for the CPU upgrade or there is more? I think we can still return it as it was for Xmas gift, so I only opened and installed windows to make sure everything was good (no defect) and not used yet

For me personally no. I bought it for work purposes so will not be doing much on it. I already put in a new Samsung 960 Pro in it, so it's a bit of a hassle. Plus I've been back to MS store a couple of times for price adjustments. (Once to apply gift card that I bought on kijiji, and another because of $150 price drop.)

    • Just have to comment and say I'm in absolute love with my Dell XPS. I've been using it for work everyday for over a year and it's just fantastic. I hate using any other laptop with bezels now.

The ram cannot be upgraded but the SSD can.

The 8th generation CPU is way more powerful, ~50% more due to the move from two to four cores while keeping power consumption around the same. I think if you are doing more than just light browsing you'll notice a difference. I have a 4th gen XPS 13, it's definitely slower when it when I have a bunch of tabs opened. http://laptopmedia.com/comparisons/inte ... s-collide/

    • This is a great price. Thanks OP.

I will still wait for 16gb 8th gen i7, hope I don't regret passing up on this.

Thanks for pointing out the SSD is upgradable - I thought both it and the RAM were soldered in place.

If only the RAM were 16GB or could be upgraded then this would be a very tempting offer for me. I need 16GB minimum for work.

Yes, it is. I have an HP Spectre and it also has the coil whine like many of the other ultrabooks. I personally don't find it that much of an annoyance.

How do this XPS 2in1 compare to this one?

      https://www.microsoft.com/en-ca/store/d ... chspecstab

I got it during black friday for $1350. If I was going to switch the SSD (say a 1TB for $300), which one would you keep?
Yours is the previous 7th gen dual core while this one is the newer 8th gen quad core. If you can do an exchange, do it.
