    • Just got my phone / package and ported over my number. Only took about 15 minutes.

      Getting just under 100 mbps.

Overall happy. Was already paying $48 after taxes for 5gb so $50 for 50gb is huge

    • I just got 45$ 30gb in Quebec... That doesn't seem normal to me lol

Went to the portal and saw the same 45$/30gb plan. Jumped on it.

Nowhere does it say that it's not permanent.
Thanks to you both, I just got $45/30gb in QC, by speaking to loyalty.

    • Has anyone had luck getting Koodo to give this to existing customer? Koodo is not accepting any phone calls right now. I tried but they're so overwhelmed they automatically do not schedule any callbacks right now. I'm trying to get this for a family member who is currently on vacation (using a completely different number overseas, will not get text message asking if they requested a port), so porting to another carrier is not really an option

They don't care about the $100 in-store credit and only wanted the $30 plan. Just like me 😂

    • Sorry that you couldn't get further with what I provided. Hopefully you noticed in my first post I indicated that they implied some of what I got was because I had been a customer for more than 10 years. So if you've been a customer for that long you should have the same access?

It also could be luck / timing / rep skill. Hopefully you got something decent or you get better luck next time!
I already have the $35/12 plan so it's only a couple dollars savings. I have 20 years tenure (Clearnet/Telus/Public/Koodo) so that's not it. She was trying but it simply didn't work.
I'm not going to stress and try again for $2. I'm just happy she tried and didn't try to BS me into some stupid in market plan.

    • I think you got very lucky. I just called in and tried to get your plan too. The rep spent half an hour trying to figure out the code and how to apply it.
The $3/10Gb was a text message promotion and so there wasn't even a code attached. Once she found the code then it wouldn't attach to my account.
She said it was probably because I didn't get the text message. So I don't know how they did it for you.

    • The plan itself says 4G LTE but the add-ons just say "data" so I think full 4G LTE. Here's a screenshot.

I just got a confirmation that all Koodo new line activation promotion is valid for 24 months, while Fido offer is mostly 15 month except the $45 per month plan.

Plan 2 is ongoing forever, that's why I picked it. No hassle to switch out again in 15 months. Permanent with zero "monthly credits" applied to the account.

When u request to move your phone number to another service provider, it cancels your existing service provider plan.

I am a long time Koodo customer and have no idea how to change my plan. I can never all through to Koodo. Do I just show up in store?

      Please explain.

    • Just another data input for this.

I called Koodo, currently paying $31 for 11 gigs through a weird set of data addons and a $25 no data base plan.

I was put through to retentions, not by being rude or anything, just telling the first person that none of those plans (like $40 for 10 gig, etc) were palpable for me. They saw I have been a Koodo Customer since 2008 (Holy shit), and told me retentions would be able to do something better since I am a 10 year customer.

I didn't try too hard, was immediately offered:

      1) $35 for 20gb for 15 months, reverting to $55 for 20gb after that
      2) $30 for 2gb, plus $0 for 4gig addon, plus $3 for 10 gig addon 0> total $33 for 16gig

I said yes to plan 2. Anyone with 10+ years with Koodo (and probably some who don't tbh) should be able to get this.

    • I’m a current Koodo customer, and want to share my recent experience negotiating a plan with them. I just used the website callback feature (no special number).

Current: $35/6GB, 2-yr contract ending soon, price will go up to $45. Asked for $35/20GB, referenced Fido/Virgin Black Friday deal

Offered: $35/16GB or $45/24GB, permanent price (doesn’t expire after x months)

I took the $35 plan. Tried negotiating my partner’s plan as well, but they declined since it was still under contract.

      Hope this helps.

    • I think 4G is faster than LTE
      Incorrect.

On Koodo, "4G LTE speed" generally means the speed is uncapped and you can use your data as fast as the tower can send it to you. "4G speed" generally means you're capped to 100mbps speed regardless of what the tower is able to handle. They then let you use the "speed boost" perk to raise this cap to 200mbps.

Older plans have "4G LTE speed" but none of the newer plans do. Essentially the reason they capped the speed was so they could then sell it back to you and make you think you're getting a better deal.
