Here's a unique freebie - a free Video Games Live concert is coming to Dundas Sqaure in Toronto on June 21, 2008. Video Games Live concerts present video game music performed by a live orchestra and choir. If that sounds like a bit of an odd marriage to you, you should check out some YouTube and Google videos of Video Games Live performances including a Zelda Medley, Final Fantasy VII music and an 8-Bit Classic Game Medley. We'll bet that hearing some classic and modern video game music performed by a full blown orchestra will bring smiles to a lot of faces.

This event, sponsored by Futureshop, Nintendo, Microsoft, and Activision, features all day activities including Guitar Hero competitions and game demos starting from 10AM. There will also be events like poster signing, a costume contest, and more, all leading up to the pre-show at 6PM, and the actual concert at 8:30 PM. The best part? It's all free.

    • Don't forget to bring your DS + applicable flash card with appropriate games :D
I'd assume the list would be a bit limited as it's a free OUTDOOR concert. Just hope it doesn't t-storm like all these previous weekends

    • Cloudy forecast. Should be nice. Warm, but not overly warm.

Is this the playlist they are going to play next Saturday?
not sure.. but the performance is from 8:30pm-11pm that's 2.5 hours.. which sounds like a full performance.. so I would almost expect something similar to that playlist if they are performing for that amount of time.

    • I went to the last two Toronto performances, and rather than their playlist, it's more akin to a repertoire. At each event, they pick and choose different games (although I think some must be staples like FF). Can't say exactly which ones they're gonna pick this time, but hopefully some that I didn't hear the last two times! ^_^

And also, I concur with the post that mentioned it above, BRING YOUR DS(ES)!!!

    • i totally missed the guitar hero thing and the rest of the day, but the concert was absolutely awesome
i dont even know/recall most of the music from the games, but it was such a great sight to see an orchestra performing to a bunch of awestruck people of all ages in the heart of downtown toronto
they also had martin leung (youtube kid playing mario on piano blindfolded) do a couple of songs on his own, and one with the orchestra, and he was a PHENOMENAL pianist (at least in my uneducated opinion)
and the rain held out JUST long enough to watch 2 1/2 hours of great music, in perfect weather!

    • i thought the concert was awesome... though it still didn't have my fav game with the best music ever (Falcom's Ys Series) but hey, it was still great.

great pictures, you were way closer then me... I took about 60 pictures with my BB... lol quality wasn't bad but sometimes can't see what's on the screen.
